ECO CARE ENGINEERING PVT. LTD, CHENNAI, INDIA (Feb’08-Mar’09)
Position: ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD TECHNICIAN
(Sludge treatment and Wastewater treatment)
• Worked on the designing techniques and operational options of Submerged Membrane Bio-Reactor (SMBR)
System for Municipal Waste Water Treatment Process.
• Hands-on-experience on the configurations of Submerged Membrane Bio-Reactor – Hollow Fiber Capillary,
Plate and frame Membranes and their design conditions.
• Worked on the membrane fouling issues by performing the constant transmembrane pressure (TMP) filtration.
• Worked on Fouling Mechanism, Fouling Control and Elimination by optimizing the operating conditions and
Curative Methods.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Developed Process Flow Diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PFD’s & P&ID’s) for Membrane Bio-
Reactor.
Developed Water Report for the Project:
• An Anaerobic submerged membrane reactor – PILOT SCALE was used to treat the produced water from
offshore oil reservoirs at up to 4.7 barrels per day having high salinity(2-5% TDS) and COD up to 50000 mg/l.
• Reduction of 97% COD was achieved and 99% organic compounds like aliphatic hydrocarbons, monoaromatic
hydrocarbons, aliphatic acids, aromatic acids and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). Metal removal up
to 90% .
• Due to change in flux rate reversible fouling of membrane filter was observed. Restored permeability by in-situ
cleaning at pH2-2.5 and also oxidative treatment using sodium hypochlorite.
• At the time of pilot trial, during winter condition there was limited biological heat production and the
temperature pilot plant was low 15degrees C. Three months later it increased to 27degrees C which increased
the ambient temperature.
• Observed the increasing coincidence of operating temperature and the influent salinity.
• After measuring the COD concentration, the influent flow was adjusted to calculate the Food to
Microorganism F/M ratio varied with time.

The performance of hollow-fiber membrane was measured and assessed during 3 different operating
•
conditions and the permeability of the membrane under different operating conditions was also observed to
know the declination of the membrane.
Worked on AutoCAD software for Design, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.
Created customize and edit tags and annotations in industry standard formats
Generated reports such as document registries, equipment list, line list from the projects.
Worked on the Validation for drawings.

A CADEMIC PROJECTS
Master’s Project on Risk Assessment Methodologies
• Objective was to examine how risk assessments are developed for site specific locations and setting water standards for
specific elements.
• Intent was to demonstrate type of industrial data available for specific products related to the number of historical
incidents including cost of damage, injuries and fatalities, as well as how data is available for day-to-day occurrences
(e.g. air travel, auto accidents, drowning, etc.)
• Information on how standards are set and/or revised both on a State & National level.
Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI), Chennai, India
Division of Cell for Industrial Safety and Risk Analysis (CISRA)
• Project on Thermo-Kinetic Analysis of Process Chemical Reactions
• Objective was to estimate the explosive/decomposition potential of pyrotechnic mixtures used as fireworks.
