Hello, My name is Jessie sosa. I am a 22 year old Certified medical assistant and nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician and Ambulance Driver. Having given a lot of thought and personal consideration into applying for a position at the Gay and Lesbian center I have every intention on informing the organization as to how I may apply my medical training and personal reflection and views of the center, and thus creating an understanding as to why I would be a perfect candidate for a permanent position. First and foremost I consider myself a public advocate. My medical training is an extension of my care for the public and their health. when I began my training to become a medical assistant in 2011 I new I had made a great career move which would open many more doors for me to find the right job position. With extensive training in all aspects of medical assisting, I finished my program with certs. in ekg operations and phlebotomy. I exceeded my necessary externship hours and continued to volunteer at the office of Dr. Valentin Hernandez. Although I did not allow much time to continue working in a medical office I felt I should continue my education and to extend my scope of practice to provide the best possible healthcare to my patients. At which point I entered the Emergency medical training program. Although It is emergency training, the medical assisting program allowed me to be open to the consideration of hidden ailments and to get correct vital sign readings. Upon working in the ambulance I found I could easily gather a patients medical history, take great sets of vital signs no matter how bumpy the road is, and also gather a strong description leading to a correct chief complaint, Which are the necessary components for a doctor to reach an easier diagnosis. With months of training and hard work I feel extremely competent in my skills, And would absolutely love to bring them to the Gay and Lesbian Center of Hollywood. Speaking of being a public advocate earlier, I have respect for the gay community and the help your organization extend to them, my partner and I have visited the center before and see what a positive impact it is for the gay community, and for that I Thank you.I am also a frequent volunteer with Equality California, which is the largest LGBT advocacy organization in California. With my medical skills and training ill be able to reach out to my patients and have a positive impact on their health in turn. Thank you for the opportunity to try and be a part of this great organization and I hope to hear from you soon.
-I would also like to add that Medical assisting will not be the end of my medical career. Upon being hired, I plan on receiving my license in phlebotomy, attending paramedic school and continuing my goal of becoming a physicians assistant. we all start somewhere and im sure the Gay and Lesbian center will open many doors for myself and the public.
