Criminal Justice Internship – Momence, Illinois
I completed a 4 month internship with the Momence Police Department in 2012. During my
tenure with the Police Department, I worked in the office and accompanied officers on their
daily rounds. During my time in the police cruiser I assisted officers in writing tickets,
completing accident reports for review by my supervisor and accompanying my supervisor to
court hearings. I met with several officers to learn more about skills necessary to successfully
perform the duties of a police officer. While working in the office I was charged with the
responsibilities of updating the department’s policy manual which was reviewed and approved
by the Chief.
My first two years at Mott Community College, I was on the Dean’s List for having a GPA of
3.8.
During the two and one-half years I attended Olivet, I maintained a GPA of 3.325.
I was also a member of the Olivet Cheerleading Squad during my last year at Olivet.
General Work Experience
Menards – Bradley, Illinois
Employment: April 2013 – Present
Part Time – As a team member, my responsibilities are to help customers find appliances they
are looking for to either replace what they already have or find new ones for their home. I also
help customers design their kitchens by figuring out where they want to put cabinets, appliances,
and helping them design their countertops. When I am not helping customers, I find bintags that
need to be replaced due to them missing or they are appliances that are on sale. I also help
restock the knobs for cabinets, along with putting laminate away.
Twig and Barry’s – Bourbonnais, Illinois
Employment: October 2012 – March 2013
Part Time – As a waitress, I waited on tables, refilled customers drinks and cleared the tables off
after the customers were done eating. When they left, I would wipe off tables and finish clearing
the table off. When we were a little slow, I would help wash the dishes and put them away. I also
came in before we opened the restaurant to help sweep and mop the floors. The tables would all
have to be moved out of the way to sweep and mop, so I would also have to put them back. Once
we opened, I would fold silverware until customers would come in. When we were running low
on condiments, I would refill all the bottles and make sure nothing else needed to be filled.
Jimmy John’s – Bourbonnais, Illinois
Employment: May 2012 – April 2013
Part Time – As a team member, my responsibilities were to complete tasks such as making
sandwiches, collecting the customers payment if I was working the cash register for the day, and
interact with the customers who came into the shop. When we did not have enough meat or
cheese sliced for the day, I would help slice. I would also help pull bread and stretch bread to put
into the oven so we had bread for the night. Close to the end of the night, we all had different
tasks to accomplish such as sweeping and mopping the floors, wiping off the tables, taking the
trash out, cleaning the bathrooms, washing the dishes, deck scrubbing, wiping down all the
stainless steel, filling the ice bin, restocking the napkins/delivery bags/gloves, refilling the lids
and straws, and restocking the chip rack and cookie bin. We would also answer the phone and
take the customers delivery orders.
Flint Cultural Center Corporation - Flint, Michigan
Employment: Summer 2011
Part Time - During my time working for the FCCC as a marketing assistant, I executed
tasks such as planning events, setting up for events and cleaning up after the events. I
would also walk around to all five buildings associated with the FCCC to collect
information on all the different activities going on around the cultural center. I would use
these pamphlets at the different events I attended to advertise for the cultural center. Any
patrons who came up to my table would ask questions about the buildings and I would
answer them to the best of my knowledge. When the marketing director needed errands
ran, I would go out and get what she needed. While at the office, I would contact
individuals to set up appointments for different meetings that the marketing director
needed set up. I also put together a calendar online for all the FCCC staff to see. I left it
open for them so they would be able to input information from their buildings.
The Elbow Room – Flushing, Michigan
Employment: June 2008 – August 2010
Part Time - While working for The Elbow Room as a barista, I made coffee for all the customers
who came in. When I finished making their drinks, I rung them up on the register and collected
their payment. When they were finished drinking their coffee and/or eating their pastries, I
would clean up the table and wash the dishes. Sometimes we would receive phone calls asking
about the special for the day or we would have to take a message for the owner. Every Monday
we would do an inventory checklist so we knew what to order for the following Tuesday’s
delivery. At the end of the night, I would go around the coffee shop sweeping and mopping the
floors. Once I locked the doors, I would cash the register out and count the money so I could
make the deposit for the night.
Sloan Museum – Flint, Michigan
Employment: January 2006 – August 2010
Part Time - While working for the Sloan Museum in retail and sales, I performed general
tasks such as collecting money from the customers to pay for either tickets to the museum
or retail items. I also helped organize the museum store and update the inventory. We
would also answer phone calls from patrons asking about the museum hours, how to get to
the museum, the prices to the museum, and what events were going on. While not
interacting with the patrons, a few of us would clean the windows, vacuum the carpet and
walk around the museum to make sure nothing was out of place. When it came time to
close the museum, I would make an announcement over the intercom and lock the doors.
Over the summer, the Flint Cultural Center would hold a huge car show. While at the car
show, we had four entrances where the director’s secretary and I would collect all the
money and count it so we could deposit the earnings.
