AN I MAL BACKGROUN D:
I have owned and shown American Quarter Horses, dogs, cats, goats, and pocket pets since
childhood. Growing up I showed in many disciplines including showmanship, western
p leasure and horsemanship classes, hunter under saddle and equitation classes, reining,
and the t imed-events. I have seven state t it les to my name and have been a contender at
several breed and western discipline world championships many times. I owe a lot of my
success and confidence with horses to my involvement with the 4-H Horse Program in which
I was extremely active from the 3rd g rade until 12th g rade. While I was very active in the 4-H
Horse program my 4-H experience also included poultry judging, livestock judging,
volunteer work, mentorship programs, and other public services like assisting with small
animal Rabies clinics. I have had the opportunity to own 4 amazing equine athletes and
t rain and show over 50 during my youth and young adult years. My main interests have
p rimarily been in the equine lameness and sports medicine; however I am interested in all
aspects of large and small animal veterinary medicine and surgery ranging from wellness
to dentistry.
