EXPERIENCE

Engineering Technical Services 1994-Present

ETS provides engineering services in the areas of project management, safe reviews, writing safety programs and construction management. Self- employed.

• Structural Engineer – Duke Energy – Oconee SC – This project is the installation of new MSIV’s. There have never been any installed at those units. Designing valve supports, reviewing existing structure to support new loads, reviewing supports for installation and welding valves in place and welding procedures that will be required.

• Structural Engineer – Dominion Power _ Richmond VA – Five year projections plans and budgets, reviewing removal of existing equipment in both nuclear and fossil plants and provide field reviews of construction projects for safety requirements.

• Project Manager - Carolina Builders Facility - Greensboro, NC – This project was on a 14 acre site with over 40,000 sq. ft of office and storage area. A railroad spur line was routed on the site. Obtained all building permits from the City of Greensboro.

• CQC and Safety Officer - Fort Bragg, NC 5 million dollar Maintenance Facility

• Technical Representative - Johnson Concrete Co., Willow Spring, NC – Technical adviser for concrete block manufacturer in the development of split face block and color block.

• General Manager - B & E Welding and Fabrication, Inc. – Manager of structural steel fabrication facility that supplied structural steel for projects: Schools, Hospitals, Office Buildings, Shopping Centers and platforms for several nuclear plants.

• Project Manager – Carolina Power and Light Company – General Contractor for five Operations Centers. These facilities range in size from 12,000 sq. ft. to 38,000 sq. ft. The average construction cost was 2.3 million dollars. Renovation and new construction projects in Fossil Power Plants. Responsibilities include the design of the facility, budget cost estimate, building permits, erosion control permits from the state and federal agencies. All project cost and scheduling.

• Safety Officer, directed safety program and training of all employees.

Carolina Power & Light Company 1976- 1994

Area Engineer - Construction Management

Responsible for construction of Reactor Aux. Building, Tank Building, roads, dams, and related components, scheduling, field problems, design changes and implementation of changes.

* Scheduled all phases of construction in these areas responsible.

* Reviewed field conflicts and installation problems requiring design changes.

* Designed field changes required due to conflicts or problems with materials.

* Reviewed reinforcing steel, structural framing, concrete placements and related components for installation compliance. Monitored concrete placement – average placements were around 700 yards per day. Containment mat placement was over 9600 yards.

* Estimated all materials used, provided budgets for all phases of the construction and approved payment request for these buildings.

Senior Engineer- Design and Construction Management

Provided structural designs and modifications for new and existing components. Developed standard designs and details for structural systems.

* Designed and detailed standard pipe supports based on spans and maximum loading.

* Developed standard frame designs for support of lead shielding.

* Participated in the development and installation design for re-racking of Fuel Pools.

* Developed walk-down procedures to reduce rework during construction installation.

* Review of field installation for verification and certification of completion.

* Designed overhead crane system.

* Designed roadways and rail sidings.

* Estimated cost of all design projects, approved drawings from vendors, and approved payment request.

Project Engineer - Project Management

Supervised engineers and technicians during the design and construction of major projects. Integrated the use of computer aided design for major projects during construction.
