Work Experience
Caterpillar Inc, East Peoria, IL (Through Geometric Americas)
Manufacturing Engineer (Feb 2012- Present)
. Value Stream Transformation
- Created current and future state value stream maps to identify several
targeted areas for 6 Sigma Rapid Improvement Workshops (RIWs) that
would significantly lower the Lead time.
- Participated in a series of RIWs that led to reductions in inventory
and better workflow through the Value Streams enabling to meet TAKT
times
- By the end of the transformation, the Lead Time for the product family
was reduced by more than 35 percent (7 days) to just over 14 days.
. Non Value Added Work (NVA) Reduction in Constraint Cells
- Assessed current layout and measured material flow; Developed Spaghetti
Charts and Flow Process Charts
- Coordinated with operations, supply chain and future planning teams to
determine ideal state
- Optimized the sequence of operations and man machine ratios using Man
Machine Charts
- Utilized visual management, Kanban and 5S to reorganize the value
stream
- By the end of the project was able to bring about a savings of $130,000
. Setup Reduction from 70 minutes to 50 minutes
- Performed Time studies and recorded base line setups
- Identified external and internal elements in a setup
- Proposed, implemented and validated conversion of internal steps to
external to reduce internal setup time using DMAIC principles
. Process documentation
- Developed Standard Work for operating and setting up machines to
improve PQVC
- Conducted Safety Failure Mode Element Analysis (FMEA) inspections to
identify high risk work elements
- Proposed and implemented solutions to mitigate identified risks and
create Safe Job Procedures
. Identified, implemented and tracked Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCAs)
to eliminate underlying causes of People Quality Velocity and Cost (PQVC)
losses
Matcor - Metal Fabrications, Morton, IL
Engineering Intern (Jan 2012- Feb 2012)
. Created and maintained Sheet Metal part drawings using Pro-Engineer
. Geometric Tolerance and Dimensioning of different parts drawings
. Prepared and maintained Bill of Materials and Routings of different parts
. Conducted cost analysis and identified impact of tooling availability on
part cost
Cabot Microelectronics, Aurora, IL
Summer Intern (May 2011- Aug 2011)
. Initiated and completed a 'Metrology Product Change Notification' (PCN)
package for customers' management of change requirements
- Conducted various Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R),
correlation and parallel testing studies for existing and new
metrology.
- Collected and analyzed data using the statistical tools in Minitab
- Presented the PCN to the International Change Review Board and
obtained approval
. Designed and tested a mechanism which flattens product samples to
eliminate variability, time and effort in measurement
. Maintained the existing databases for the Quality Management Systems
(QMS)
. Developed and documented quality related Temporary Operating Procedures
(TOPs) and work instructions

PROJECTS AND INDUSTRIAL TRAINING
Advanced Technology Service, Peoria, IL,
. Quickly integrated into a five man Engineering team for a lean project
and accomplished a 3 day decrease in turnaround time at the facility.
- Developed Spaghetti Charts, Process Charts and Current Value Stream
Maps. Identified Mudas and Non Value Added steps
- Conducted Root Cause Analysis and 5 Whys and proposed Kaizen events to
reduce Cycle Time of stations
- Implemented Kanban visual aid technique and Poke Yoke to improve
processes by elimination of Non Value Added work
- Conducted cost justification analysis for implementation
