CAREER ADVANCEMENT

ABB Power Systems, Raleigh, NC

Electro Mechanical Designer (June 2010 - December 2010)

Duties & Responsibilities:

> Served as Electro-Mechanical Designer on the corporate design,

modifications, and launch of 230KV Power Substations that utilized

electro mechanical equipment. Various designs included: layouts,

profiles showcasing phase clearances and installation details, checking

structural plan sets, and development of digital Microstation V8i Data

Base library details.

> Created and modified mechanical and Electro-Mechanical CAD drawings,

schematic design diagrams and other documentation, complying with

California PG&E standards. Documented complex designs, assisting in

material and component selection, exercises individual judgment when

selecting methods and procedures, and perform component and system

testing.

> Interacted and collaborated with multiple inter-departmental team

members on a daily basis to exchange critical design information and

develop solutions to problems that could be extremely complex. Project

was cancelled.

PBS&J & THINK RESOURCES (Consulting Firm of PBS&J),

Aviation Designer (April 2003 - April 2010)

> Working in the PBS&J Civil Engineering and Surveying unit at Charlotte

office processing raw survey data utilizing Microstation J, V8i,

Geopak, and AutoCAD 2010 format. Facilitated and worked on Civil

Engineering projects for subdivision development and City of

Charlotte Light Rail Project.

> Promoted to Electrical Aviation Designer with the National Aviation Group

in Raleigh, instrumental in the design plans for

> Created multiple details of parts, modules, and assemblies in the

design plans including 2D cross sections, extremely close tolerance

details of installation and placement of airfield equipment. Layout

tolerances held to .000001 in Cad Files. Various electronic data

formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and

inspection for aviation designs.

> Collaborated and implemented methods and procedures to design various

LED Airfield lighting projects for both Military and GA Airfields,

development of Demolition plans, Precise light layouts and Installation

details. Circuiting plans, and master duct bank layouts, plus cross

section details showing installation, grounding and drainage. Rehab

projects included the demolition of any existing Airfield electrical,

and upgrading to LED Airfield electrical equipment for both cost

efficiency and reliability.

> Some Projects include Atlanta's new 10-28 runway and Bridge design,

Dover Air Force Base Runway 14-32, Las Vegas McCarran Apron and taxi

lanes.

> Developed and implemented layouts on both existing and new vaults,

which house the current regulators for voltage output control of the

Airfield lighting and Signs. Maintained and organized document and

quality control of all projects which were all governed by strict FAA

and Military design criteria.

> Collaborated with various suppliers to generate design standards and

engineering part definitions.

PROGRESS ENERGY, Raleigh, NC

Substation Engineer Analyst (May 2000 - April 2003)

> Progress Energy's Transmission/Distribution Relay Design and Substation

Engineering Unit. Assisted lead Engineering group with the designs on a

monitoring system for a new temperature and alarm system for high

voltage substation and transmission projects up to 500kV substations

which may switchgear components and bus support changes.

> Assisted in the design of SCADA systems with communication interfaces

with RTUs. Updated all drawings and plans for substations utilizing

these PLC systems.

> Worked on the control and relay panels of substations with equipment

upgrades and made changes to any schematics and wiring diagrams.

> Drove, implemented, and supported 3D design models of substation

equipment for future substation standards.

> Part of a task force put together a 24 hour change out of an emergency

transformer fire at one of the downtown Raleigh area substations.

> Successfully maintain and implement North Ridge Country Club events,
