By way of introduction my name is Samantha Fioravanti. This text serves as a formal letter for my
application for employment.
With my readiness to begin a new chapter in my professional career, menswear is where I am making a
home and where my true passion lies. A solid foundation has been built from my career history in fashion
styling and RTW luxury retail sets. I began my love affair with menswear after studying Rudi Gernreich,
since there have been countless inspirations. Varvatos became an inspiration for my love of menswear about
12 years ago when I visited his boutique in SoHo.
During my time working as a Merchandising Manager I learned key visual skills and marketing techniques.
Meeting daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly goals is the number one priority in the retail world tied with of
course client relations. To work on what I want to focus my career on, menswear, I began working as a
private stylist and personal shopper for prominent business men in the Miami area. Custom tailoring, luxury
brands, and product knowledge is a given in this situation. I dressed men in casual, resort, business and
black tie. Not one client was the same I would select from modern to classic to Bogart basic fits – virgin
brushed wool, lightweight seersucker, wool silk combination. Every detail of a man’s wardrobe was covered
from briefs to a classic Ricardo smoking jacket.
Over my time in the Miami area I also worked for MTV Entertainment assisting in the creation of their
mens’ division of the “MTV 24 Hour Cotton Fashion Show” sponsored by COTTON. This requires one to
be quick on their feet, hold improvisational skills, detail oriented and ready for just about anything.
I have enclosed my professional resume as well as a letter of reference from Lynn Curtin of “The Real
Housewives of Orange County” and Lynne Curtin Designs for who I worked as a stylist and public liaison. I
have also enclosed a letter of reference from Richard Lieberman who was one of my male clients as a stylist.
