1) Molecular Biology: Study of Expandase Gene, Orchid Chemicals and

Pharmaceuticals (2nd-17th June, 2009)

Description: Cloning of expandase gene from Streptomyces clavuligerus into

DH5alpha strain of E. coli.

2) Molecular Biology: Expression of has operon genes in Lactococcus

lactis, IIT Madras (23rd November- 19th December, 2009)

Description: Detection of enzymes produced by has operon genes in

genetically modified Lactcoccus lactii.

3) Bioinformatics: Whole Genome Transcriptome Sequenceing Project

involving Jatropha curcas, Department of Genetic Engineering, SRM

University, Kattankulathur

Description: Annotation of 1000 contigs obtained from sequencing of

Jatropha curcas.

4) Microbiology: Degradation of Phenanthrene by a Bacterial Strain

Present in Petrol Contaminated Soil, IIT Madras (24th May- 2nd July,

2010)

Description: Isolation of bacteria that can grow on media containing

pollutant Phenanthrene as the sole carbon source.

5) Oncology: Studying the Effects of Specific Monoclonal Antibody on HER2

Overexpressing Cell Line, Biocon Ltd., Bangalore (3rd January, 2011-

3rd April, 2011)

Description: Determining the effect of an anti-breast cancer antibody on

BT474 cell lines. My undergraduate thesis was based on this project.

6) Fly work:The use of UAS/GAL4 system to introduce SIN3 knockdown in

Drosophila melanogaster salivary glands

Description: Studying the effect of the UAS/GAL4 system on Drosophila

melanogaster survival and its efficacy as a system to produce populations

of Drosophila with SIN3

Knock down.

7) TIRF Microscopy: Using GFP tagged C-peptide to study Insulin Secretion

in Min6 Cells:

Description: Studying the role of c-peptide in exocytosis of insulin-

containing vesicles via TIRF microscopy in Min6 insulinoma cells.

8) Sub-cloning: Studying the protein-protein interactions of

Synaptotagmins 1 and 7:

Description: Sub-cloning of Synaptotagmins 1 and 7 fused to Bir A in order

to study their protein-protein interaction by the BioID method.
