Description: The Settlement Desktop is designed to be the single place
where the openlink system users can flexibly create, retrieve, process,
Store, and produce documents, such as invoices, confirmations, reset
notices, file data, and so forth, the primary attribute of any data
passed through the settlement desktop is that it must be, in some way
related to a transaction event. In other words, the underlying processing
is transaction-event dependent. The starting point for the creation of any
document begins with securing a set of transaction Events. These events do
not have to be settlements Events because open events, close events, reset
events, and so forth may be used to trigger a business action or contain
the data/relationship necessary to produce a document. In essence, a
document consists of event-related data that is calculated, organized and
processed with a unique identifier called the document number. The
Settlement Desktop is used to create a document, establish workflow for
that document, and determine the format(s) through which the document will
be output. Accordingly, there are two general processes that are currently
conducted in the Settlement Desktop:
. Creating and managing the document (including visioning and workflow)
. Producing and tracking the various "Outputs" of the document.
