Worked as a Project Manager, which was instrumental in the development of
the Preconditioned Air System for the Airline Industries. The central
cooling systems were for air conditioning multiple commercial jetliners
while loading and unloading passengers in an airport hub during passenger
flight transfer.
Major clients were; Delta Air Lines, American Air Lines, United Air Lines,
Continental Air Lines, America West Airlines, etc.
Responsibilities were for a complete system design including piping using
glycol and/or refrigerant as coolant, specification of all equipment,
design of PLC based electrical control system, approved installation
subcontracts and supervised installation of piping and electrical controls
Project Engineer
Power Refrigeration Company, Hayward, CA
January, 1972 - January, 1985
As Project Engineer, this position included complete technical
responsibility for the design that included plans and specifications of all
equipment for industrial refrigeration systems. Projects completed
included systems using both ammonia, approximately 90% of total jobs and
the remainder were halocarbon refrigerants, both systems using
reciprocating, rotary, rotary screw and centrifugal compressors. Scope of
design included development of flow diagrams, equipment selection; pipe
sizing and routing, pipe supports; electrical control diagram; heat
exchange design; cost estimating; and specification writing.
Experience included overall responsibility to the design and construction
of modular ammonia and halocarbon refrigeration equipment within the limits
of transportation requirement. Supervised shop fabrication of glycol and
water pump packages and/or ammonia recovery unit to satisfy local toxic gas
ordinances. Complete check of all electrical control wiring and complete
test of the operation of the whole package to minimize time for field
installation and commissioning.
Administrative duties include supervision of sub-contractors and suppliers,
purchasing of all major equipment, client billing and payment collection.
