Solutions, Houston TX
Enhancements for Tracking Actual Costs (TAC) Project and
Redesign of the application as well as database using Visual
Studio 2005, C# ASP.NET 2.0 with SQL Server 2005 as backend.
The project is designed using C#, ASP.NET with SQL Server
2005 as backend. TAC is a tool used all over the company for
employees onsite as well as offsite to enter time for their projects.
Based on the entries the tool calculates the actual cost of the
project. Reports can be generated for each quarter. Employees
can also enter hours for different roles (E.g. Tester, Developer etc)
in different phases of their project (E.g. Envisioning, planning etc).
They can also review the efforts in the form of charts.
Program managers have the ability to maintain their own
dashboard and assign projects to their team. TAC also sends out
weekly reminders to all the employees registered in TAC to enter
their time. It also takes snapshots of the Tracking Actual table in
the database.
Involved in:
Automating email reminders by developing a separate application
and sending mail through SMTP mail server. The application
is scheduled for sending email regularly using Windows Task
Scheduler.
Modifying the code to support TAC on different domains, so that
employees in different countries can log into TAC.
Fixing bugs in the current application as reported by the users.

06/05 – 05/06 Software Developer: Stewart Title Houston, TX
Development and Implementation of AIM+ Project
AIM+ is the title production software used for order entry,
document preparation, file tracking, file management, Electronic
Policy Reporting and closing. It is designed for title and escrow
personnel to use in both large and small office settings, and is
flexible so it can be used for both commercial and residential
transactions.
In the AIM+ application, the user interacts with Win Forms that
use VB.NET code to react to user activity and apply business
rules. SQL Server 2000 is used as a backend. The requests to
retrieve or store data are maintained through web services.
Appropriate stored procedures are called along with valid SQL
parameters for any requests made by the user. The web services
access various databases using ADO.NET. The Data Access
Microsoft Code Block is used for data access functionality.
The module that I was mostly involved was Policy Transmittal.
The user interface initiates the policy transmittal process. The
client application sends all the information regarding the policy
order and endorsements if any, in the XML format to Microsoft
Message Queuing (MSMQ) server using web service. A windows
service running on the server checks for any messages in the
Policy transmittal queue reads them and logs the data in the
database. The xml files generated are then transmitted to external
components where it undergoes schema validations.
Involved in:
Agile development methodology initiated in one of the
enhancements of AIM+.
Performance improvement initiatives such as code refactoring.
Test-driven development by creating test cases using Nunit
automated testing tool.
Maintenance and support of one of the modules of AIM+ namely
Policy Transmittals.
Requirements gathering from users.
Code reviews.
