Enhancements for Tracking Actual Costs (TAC) Project and

Redesign of the application as well as database using Visual

Studio 2005, C# ASP.NET 2.0 with SQL Server 2005 as backend.

The project is designed using C#, ASP.NET with SQL Server

2005 as backend. TAC is a tool used all over the company for

employees onsite as well as offsite to enter time for their projects.

Based on the entries the tool calculates the actual cost of the

project. Reports can be generated for each quarter. Employees

can also enter hours for different roles (E.g. Tester, Developer etc)

in different phases of their project (E.g. Envisioning, planning etc).

They can also review the efforts in the form of charts.

Program managers have the ability to maintain their own

dashboard and assign projects to their team. TAC also sends out

weekly reminders to all the employees registered in TAC to enter

their time. It also takes snapshots of the Tracking Actual table in

the database.

Involved in:

Automating email reminders by developing a separate application

and sending mail through SMTP mail server. The application

is scheduled for sending email regularly using Windows Task

Scheduler.

Modifying the code to support TAC on different domains, so that

employees in different countries can log into TAC.

Fixing bugs in the current application as reported by the users.

Deployment of the project in production.

Development and Implementation of AIM+ Project

AIM+ is the title production software used for order entry,

document preparation, file tracking, file management, Electronic

Policy Reporting and closing. It is designed for title and escrow

personnel to use in both large and small office settings, and is

flexible so it can be used for both commercial and residential

transactions.

In the AIM+ application, the user interacts with Win Forms that

use VB.NET code to react to user activity and apply business

rules. SQL Server 2000 is used as a backend. The requests to

retrieve or store data are maintained through web services.

Appropriate stored procedures are called along with valid SQL

parameters for any requests made by the user. The web services

access various databases using ADO.NET. The Data Access

Microsoft Code Block is used for data access functionality.

The module that I was mostly involved was Policy Transmittal.

The user interface initiates the policy transmittal process. The

client application sends all the information regarding the policy

order and endorsements if any, in the XML format to Microsoft

Message Queuing (MSMQ) server using web service. A windows

service running on the server checks for any messages in the

Policy transmittal queue reads them and logs the data in the

database. The xml files generated are then transmitted to external

components where it undergoes schema validations.

Agile development methodology initiated in one of the

enhancements of AIM+.

Performance improvement initiatives such as code refactoring.

Test-driven development by creating test cases using Nunit

automated testing tool.

Maintenance and support of one of the modules of AIM+ namely

Policy Transmittals.
