Work experience
Bayer Chemical September 1997 - Present Baytown, Texas
Work as a plant operator in the Polyurethane's division in the
manufacturing of base isocynates. Oversee the accurate production of
inside and outside operations and make adjustments that are necessary to
ensure the continued production of the unit. Perform maintenance on items,
replacing valves and gaskets on components two inches or less. Repair
leaks found during walk through either by myself or found by the fugitive
emission team. I am a team leader of a safety observation team that
oversees any maintenance being performed and suggests ways of doing jobs
safer and with less chance of injury or damage to equipment. Team leader
for the fire and rescue team since 1998.
Webster Fire Department May 2003 - Current Webster,
Texas
Provide fire/rescue/medical support for the city during daytime and
nighttime when called upon. Perform in the function of firefighter,
apparatus driver, and officer of the crew. Participate in community
training and public relation events. Training Lieutenant, responsible for
training all new members in the department as well as training of current
members.
Team Incorporated September 1990 - September 1997 Pasadena, Texas
Employed as a fugitive emission-monitoring technician for the chemical
industry. Responsibilities were to accurately read and determine what was
required by state and federal air regulations and to set up and conduct
testing of components. Perform minor maintenance; tighten valve packings,
installed plugs and caps to components when needed. Filled out proper
reports and did follow up monitoring when needed. Sat in on audits that
occurred with the state and federal officials, answered questions that came
up. I was responsible for 15 different types and sizes of chemical plants
in the gulf coast area.
International Paint Powder Coatings September 1985 - September 1990
Started my employment in the manufacturing and production area starting in
the batch making process. Using batch blend tickets to pull the raw
materials needed to make batches and then weigh and mix the batches.
Cleaning of blend tanks when empty. I then progressed up to running the
extruders and grinders in the manufacturing process. This included to
operation of the machines to specific settings and to ensure the proper
operation of the machines. Once the manufacturing runs of the batches were
complete, the extruders and grinders were then broken down and cleaned and
the put back together for the next production run. My next progression was
to work in the quality control lab. Responsibilities there included to
check batch runs for accurate color, gloss, and impact resistance for
samples off of the extruder lines. Duties also included checking samples
from the grinding process for the same test result as well as checking for
particle size, gel times and for oversize particle. Samples were check by
using color spectrometers, particle size computers, and spray and baking
sample panels. I later moved up and became the manager of the QA/QC lab
and added the responsibilities of making and adjustments to the batches
when need to get back into spec range. This was done either during the day
or at night. Investigating any customer complaints that came in and any
other problems that may have occurred. Overseen the technicians that
worked in the lab and did appraisals on them. Ordered supplies and new
equipment when needed.
Service Merchandise June 1980 - September 1985
Manager of the camera and electronics department. Responsibilities
included aiding customers with their selection of products and handling
problems or questions that they may of had. Took inventory on items in the
department and ordered products when needed and ensured orders were
received and correct. Managed a staff of up to ten people during peek
times and setting work schedules for them. I would do appraisal
evaluations and any discipline of employees when needed.
