Research work Experience:-

One year ( 04-05-2012 to 30-03-2013) Senior Research Fellow entitled “ICAR funded

outreach project Diagnosis And Management Of Leaf Spot Disease Of Field And

Horticultural Crops” under supervision of Mrs Sunita Lal (Principal Scientist) at crop

protection division,Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research (IISR) Lucknow .

Summary of the project work:- Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) procedure was

used to examine the genetic variability of C.falcatum. The data were entered into a binary matrix

and a similarity matrix was constructed using DICE similarity (SD) index. A UPGMA cluster

based on SD values was generated. FreeTree software was used for construction of phylogenetic

trees on the basis of distance data and for bootstrap analysis of the trees robustness.

M.Sc dissertation work:-

Four months Dissertation (10th Jan. 2011-9th May 2011) entitled “Cloning expression and

purification of Brugia- malayi Endosymbiontgene (Bme)” for the partial fulfillment of M.Sc

Bio Tech, under the guidance of Dr. (Mrs.) Shailja Bhattacharya Scientist ‘G’ Parasitology

Division C.D.R.I Lucknow (UP)

Summary of the dissertation work:-Previous strategies for elimination of filariasis have

included vector control in the presence of antiparasitic drugs. Diethylcarbamazine, and

ivermectin have been the most recent drugs of choice for prevention of microfilarial infections,

but they have little effect on adult worms. It is thought that Wolbachia may be used as a future

candidate against lymphatic Filariasis. The recent publication of the draft genomic sequence for

Wolbachia enables us a genome wide search for new potential drug targets .The aim of the

present present study is to make the platform for identifying the drug target, the protein(s) of

Wolbachia by gene targeted reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, its cloning,

subcloning and further its expression and purification. A protein thus identified would further be

characterized. The role of identified protein(s) in parasite-host biology would be explored or it

may be exploited as a vaccine/drug target.
