WORK EXPERIENCE
General Dynamics Armament & Technical Products
Mar. 2003 - Apr. 2012
(Manufacturer of military products for the Department of Defense)
Nine years experience managing a highly successful manufacturing facility
for US Army contracts.
Plant Manager
I managed a facility that produced a highly technical and innovative
Reactive Armor tile for Bradley fighting vehicles and Abram tanks for the
US Army. The facility also produced various sized ignition cartridges and
propellant increments for mortars and multiple components for Hydra
rockets. The facility employed 38 - 101 employees depending upon
contractual needs. As Plant Mgr., I helped convert a facility with a
disgruntled work force that seldom met budget or contract into a facility
that had good morale and met or exceeded all contractual requirements.
As Plant Mgr., I was responsible for the following:
Meet all budgeted labor hours\dollars for Reactive Armor touch labor
Ensure there are no contract delinquencies at year-end
Achieve 95% average monthly performance against build plan schedule
Improve Environmental Health and Safety performance annually with regards
to recordable injuries, lost workday case rate, lost time accidents, OSHA
reportable injuries, hazardous waste rate and recyclable materials
Reduce internal defects by 10% over previous year baseline
Maintain a minimum of 98% inventory accuracy
Overall culture of the facility (my facility scored the highest in all
measurable parameters during a corporate culture survey)
Accomplishments:
Reduced labor 29.4% over past three years through LSS initiatives that I
championed or led
100% on-time delivery record. Only facility in the company to achieve this
Led facility through ISO certifications to ISO 9001, 14001 & 18001
Increased productivity and quality through LSS initiatives
Green initiatives resulted in a 45.5% reduction in energy usage over past
two years
Other Green initiatives resulted in recycling 67% of all solid waste and
elimination of all hazardous waste
My facility received the highest payouts within the company for the
company's profit sharing program
My facility scored the highest of all company sites on a company wide
culture survey
My facility scored better than all other sites on most or all company
metrics
