Experience:
Oct 2011-Feb 2012 Severn Trent Services (Water Purification Company in Pittsburgh). Managed their field laboratory for a water-treatment-pilot plant for coal-seam gas operations in Australia. Analyzed for Na+ and Cl- ions and determine acidity and alkalinity of raw, intermediate and treated waters, and determine capacities of ion-exchange resins. Assured the quality of the analysis with calibrations and standard-addition techniques.
1980 - June 2009 Bayer Corporation (US Headquarters, in Pittsburgh, PA) -Health, Environment & Safety Group. Over a period of 29 years, rose from an Industrial Hygiene Specialist; to Senior Specialist; to Associate Scientist; to Senior Scientist level. Quality control manager at the AIHA-Accredited Industrial Hygiene Laboratory since 1982. Completed numerous research projects. Developed new methods for sampling and analysis of air pollutants. Internationally recognized expert in sampling and analysis of isocyanates, amines and other organics in air. Used state-of-the-art analytical instrumentation like HPLC, GC, GC-MS and specialized portable air pollutant monitors
1975 – 1980 Assistant Professor of Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, LA (Pulmonary Disease Section). Worked as an industrial hygienist for several occupational lung disease epidemiology research studies funded by NIOSH, NIH & NGOs (isocyanates, cotton dust, silica, asbestos, organic vapors etc.). Developed and taught course in environmental science to graduate students.
1972 – 1975 Post-doctoral research associate at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. Research focused on development of new sampling and analysis methods for metals in air.
1968 – 1972 Doctoral student at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Majored in Analytical Chemistry. Research project was on development of sampling and analysis methods for metals in air. My mentor late professor Dr. Philip W. West was an internationally acclaimed analytical chemist and an environmental scientist.
