Project Description: Covad Communications was a broadband services
company in the US providing DSL services. Covad developed
an Operations Support System for its day-to-day operations
management. By integrating best-of-breed products (like
Oracle BRM, Micromuse Net Cool, Vitria BusinessWare,
AdventNet SNMP) using a middleware layer Covad OSS was
developed. Cognizant is responsible for maintenance,
enhancements, componentization, business process mapping,
integration and customization of this OSS for Covad and its
international partners.
Oracle BRM was a billing solution which served as a
complete, end-to-end billing solution for COAVD which was a
communications and DSL services provider, enabled her to
retain profitable customers, increase average revenue per
user, quickly launch new and enhanced services. With Oracle
BRM, service providers effectively managed their core
business and enhanced its profitability while offering
popular, higher-margin voice, data, and content services.
Client Description: Covad was a leading national broadband service
provider of high-speed Internet and network access
utilizing Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) technology in the
US. It offered DSL, T1, managed security, Web and E-Mail
hosting, IP and dial-up services directly through Covad's
direct sales force and web and telephone sales and through
Internet Service Providers, value-added resellers,
telecommunications carriers and affinity groups to small
and medium-sized businesses and home users.
As the first company to commercially deploy DSL in the
United States, Covad has spent hundreds of millions of
dollars building a network that passed more than 57 Million
homes and businesses in 44 states - the largest nationwide
footprint of any DSL company in the US.
