Sr. Solutions Architect, NASA Michoud Assembly Facility, USDA NFC, New Orleans, LA

01/08-06/08

In 2003 congress approved a plan for the NFC to migrate risk associated with Disaster Recovery and appropriated

funds to implement this plan. In response to this congressional move, the NFC developed the dual Data Center Project.

As part of EMC Professional Services I was assigned to work in conjunction with the NFC personnel to assist in the

design and implementation of a Primary AND Backup Computer Facility. This was a purely contract position.

The bulk of my job here was to assist in designing a better solution for their data center. And also knowledge-

transfer. I taught the NFC SAN personnel the use and functionality of EMC Control Center, Performance

Manager and Storage Scope.

I implemented the installation of Control Center to centralize management of their SAN. The NFC SAN,

implements the SAN virtualization technology. They have IBM SAN Virtualization Controller, behind which

is an EMC storage array: Symmetrix-DMX3, DMX4, and DMX 3000. The meta-devices on the DMX are

virtualized into MDISKs and eventually presented to servers in the form of VDISKs. I assisted in the design

architecture and operational administration of SVC.

This environment had only Cisco switches: two MDS 9513 and several Cisco New Edge Blade servers.

Embedded in these 9513’s were Generation 1 SSM cards, which we used for Recovery Point data protection.

As a certified SAN specialist I assisted in maintaining their SAN effectively.

I did lots of performance analysis on their environments to ensure efficiency.

I designed and set up alert notifications within ECC to aware the NFC personnel when vital incidents happen

to their SAN like disk failures, FA failures etc.

This was a Team project. And I worked closely with my team to accomplish all assigned goals.

Designed the redirection of VMware ESX Servers access to storage via SVC instead of from the Symmetrix

directly.

Provisioning storage from EMC Clariions, IBM DS4500, IBM DS6800, FastT series and EMC Symmetrix.

Lead Storage Admin, Cox Communications Inc. Alpharetta, GA 06/07-01/08

I worked as the Lead Senior Storage Administrator for COX DPS messaging Storage. I supervised a team of three

persons and effectively and efficiently accomplished goals assigned. My team managed Email storage (Open Wave Mx)

for Cox High speed Internet, both residential and Cox mail.

In lieu of the then need to have all island storage accessible to all MSS servers I designed and implemented

the consolidation of multiple island SAN’s within Cox’s data center successfully.

In late 2007 Cox _DPS came up with the intent to migrate most of their data from EMC arrays to 3PAR

arrays. I designed and analyzed both array vendors and developed a Performance Analysis report detailing the

performance statistics of the then current EMC against the tested 3PAR array. Saving Cox close to ninety

thousand dollars in expense from the alternative of using EMC professional services.

Successfully migrated from McData SAN switches (64M2 and 24M2) to Cisco SAN switches when they

reached their EOL/EOSL.

Designed and presented quarterly performance analysis on the entire SAN.

Worked extensively with EMC local Replication software: TimeFinder/Mirror and Clone suite.

Worked with and supervised the day-to-day implementation of CDL/EDL

Configured SMTP server for ECC email alerting.

Executed to successful completion with zero down time, the de-commission of Sun 480/280 servers.

Designed, installed and architected a Development lab environment to mimic the operational production

environment as a SANDBOX.

Executed to successful completion with zero down time the cleanup of VCMDB database to promote ease of

troubleshooting and efficient FA-port utilization.

Executed to successful completion with zero down time the cleanup of Zone database.

I have an expert level knowledge with EMC Connectrix Manager troubleshooting and functionalities, as well

that of Cisco MDS 9000 series and Brocade.

Facilitated in the rebuild of MSS DirMaster servers for RMAN

Designed, architected and implemented a plan to switch from RAID1_0 to RAID 5(3+1) data protection to

save cost.

As part of my job as the Lead I thought all the junior members of my team EMC storage technologies to

comprehension in the form of knowledge transfer.

General SAN monitoring of alerts, drive replacements, connectivity port issues, supervise Symmetrix

Microcode and clarion Flare upgrades etc.

Working experience with EMC Symmetrix, Clariion, McData switches, Cisco MDS, SUN Solaris OS, 3PAR

E200, S800, 3PAR InServe, 3PAR InForm.

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver results on target.

Provisioning storage from EMC Clariions, IBM DS4500, IBM DS6800, FastT series and EMC Symmetrix.

Extensive knowledge in Storage design, architecture and implementation

Designed, architected and implemented disaster recovery with the implementation of iFCP and FCIP.

Provided continuous after hours support for storage and backup systems, working close with other teams in

the organization to avoid any business or service impact.

In my time with Cox “Information Availability” was at 99.999999% note: 6 nines

Sr. Storage Administrator, EMC Corporation, Alpharetta, GA 09/06-06/07

I worked two different times consecutively for EMC. Over my period there, I was part of the SMS team in Alpharetta. I

held a Senior Storage Admin position of which my duties included data migration over fiber channel IP technologies as

well as day-to-day storage solutions and architectural duties.

De-commissioning of server storage to make efficient use of FA-ports on the arrays.

Experience with SRDF migrations: Both host based and Array based migrations.

Experience with TimeFinder/Mirror/Clone/snap functionalities and troubleshooting to locally replicate data.

Designed architected and implemented the installation of new servers to the SAN. From physical cabling to the

SAN switches to zone creation, mapping, and masking of storage.

McData 64M and 32M2.

Experience creating clusters with VCS and provisioning to clustered servers.

Designed and implemented the migration of storage local to a server to a tier 2 SAN storage.

Experience with NetApp NAS filer. Creating NAS volumes, expanding File systems on a need to basis.

Experience with initial configuration of clarion and Symmetrix storage arrays to work in the respective

environments placed.

Extensive experience with zoning, mapping and masking via ECC and TS via SYMCLI.

Experience configuring CIFS and NFS protocols to publish file systems over IP to servers connected.

Experience with Emulex, Qlogics and Sun Leadville HBA Adapters.

Provided continuous after hours support for storage and backup systems, working close with other teams in the

organization to avoid any business or service impact

Solutions Engineer, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Alpharetta, GA 10/05-08/06

Storage Administrator, SEI Information Tech, Fargo, ND 08/01-07/05

As a storage admin at SEI, I worked closely with my team members to accomplish all assigned goals. I was part of a

team of fifteen administrators. This was a non-production environment. I worked extensively with EMC high-end

Administered Business continuity software such as Power Path to ensure redundant access to storage.

Worked with EMC’s NAS device; the Celerra NS series. This is the File server that provides both a CIFS and

NFS protocol to publish File systems over IP to hosts.

Maintained backup software including VERITAS and EMC Timefinder.

Thorough understanding of the flow and architecture of data clients to its conversion to save sets then to

storage nodes and eventually to the library device itself.

Worked with Cisco, Brocade and McData switches and developing a good understanding of their

architecture, topology and functionality. In addition to Emulex, Qlogics and Sun-Leadville HBA adapters.

Overall knowledge of the entire SAN and NAS from actual configuration of Hyper-volumes/ LUN (STD,

BCV, Meta volumes, DRV etc) on physical disks and mapping them to FA ports and providing these hyper-

volumes/LUN to host HBA via masking.

Extensive knowledge of EMC’s data replication software both local and remote replication to promote and

maintain business continuity.
