EDUCATION:
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Troy, NY Current GPA: 3.31/4.0
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Expected Graduation: May 2013
and Product Design and Innovation
Young Judea Year Course, Israel August 2008 May 2009
PRODUCT DESIGN EXPERIENCE:
Developed and tested real time bacterial detection.
•
• Created a process of paper reuse, Breyo, with an increased strength and flexibility in design. Built a prototype machine to
process the end product. Used paper O rings to seal pistons in machine.
• 3d printed functioning modular pelton wheel that interfaces with K’nex seamlessly. This was intended to interface with a
much larger system of components designed to teach kids about engineering.
Designed a light switch prototype, Squishglo, for children that reduces energy use through reward and play.
•
Lead a team to develop the Shelterbag, an inflatable disaster shelter that can attach to other units to increase chances of
•
survival.
•Developed and tested Fraction Smash, a game designed to teach kids fractions. This project involved dealing directly with
3rd graders for input, and the concept changed tremendously from the initial idea.
Coded a Matlab simulation for the Theo Jansen Strandebeest’s leg movement and optimization of leg lengths as a final
•
project in Mechanisms.
Wrote robust blob detection algorithm in Processing with masking.
•
Wrote an image compression database program for a map based graphing software.
•
Developed an airplane wing concept to learn NX modeling and simulation.
•
Designed, cut, and assembled solo a hexagonal podium for local synagogue, still in use.
•
SKILLS:
Software and language competency: NX 7.5 Simulation and Modeling, Minitab, Processing, Inventor’s Studio Modeling, Matlab,
•
Maple, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Adobe Premiere Elements, Arduino, C, HTML, CSS
Prototyping competency: Rapid, Injection, Foam core, Metal, Wood, Fiberglass
•
AWARDS:
• 3rd Place National Winner Walmart Better Living Challenge ($5,000) for DripDrop’s business plan presentation outlining
production, sale, and maintenance of bacterial and chemical testing systems
RPI Class of ’51 Entrepreneurship Competition Winner ($2,500) for DripDrop’s business plan
•
RPI Exemplars Change the World Three Time Winner ($3,000 total)
