WORK EXPERIENCE
Oct 1999 to Dec 2012. R&D Department of GAMESA EÓLICA, S.A., after FIBERBLADE S.A.
(business unit of GAMESA EÓLICA, S.A.) and finally GAMESA INNOVATION & TECHNOLOGY
S.L. WIND TURBINE BLADES DESIGN, VALIDATION AND INDUSTRIALIZATION.
Oct 2004 to Dec 2012. Project manager of INNOBLADE – 4.5 Mw Modular Blade.
o It is a 62.5 m length blade (longest in the market at that moment), based on glass and
carbon fiber structure, and divided into two modules to be assembled on site (unique in
the market at that moment).
o The responsibility included performance, cost and timing, coordinating a multi functional
team of more than 50 people, budgets of more than 20 MM€ in R&D activities and 30
MM€ in productive investments.
o This development required a lot of inventions and 18 patents were granted (see annex).
o This project received in March 2012 the Innovation Award – Wind Energy, prestigious
recognition from JEC Composites, and it was also presented at the Wind Turbine Blade
Manufacture in November 2012.
Mar 2004 to Sep 2004. Project manager of several new developments: coating systems,
lightning protection system, etc.
July 2003 to Feb 2004. Project manager of a new modular blade (43.5 m length) with a
carbon fiber spar.
July 2002 to June 2003. Responsible of design and development of complete set of
moulds of the 40 m length blade. Coordination of a 12 people engineering team for this
purpose.
Jul 2000 to Sep 2001. Responsible of design and development of the complete set of
moulds of the 29 m length blade. Coordination of a 6 people engineering team for this purpose.
Oct 99 to June 2000. Responsible of the manufacturing process and redesign of the 26 m
length shells mould (external surface of a wind turbine blade).
Project Management includes the realization of feasibility analysis, risk analysis, plannings, budget
plan and follow up, product cost breakdown estimation, investments plans, working teams
leadership, clients and suppliers contacts, crisis management, etc.
Design and development of wind turbine blades includes the structural design and calculation
(manual and/or FEM) of composite structures (glass and carbon fiber reinforcement), a
manufacturing process of more than 60 m length, more than 15 tons and lower than 1 mm tolerated
pieces, materials characterization and structural testing for certification purposes, etc.
Design and development of moulds includes structural design and calculation (analytical and/or
FEM) of metallic and composite pieces, thermal design and calculation (analytical and/or FEM) of
heating systems based on heat forced air, and the manufacturing process analysis of more than 40
m length, more than 10 tons and lower than 1 mm tolerated pieces.
