MRI Technologist (Lead MRI Technologist)
Responsibilities include: MRI scans on inpatients, outpatients, and emergency
patients. Examinations on the obese and claustrophobic patients are also
performed, as well as, injections on patients requiring contrast. The scheduling,
and payroll for the technologists, as well as, the Doctors covering contrast, the
completion of patient files, daily QA, and ordering supplies.
Using high field scanning techniques (GE 1.5T, Siemens 1.5T )
on common areas of concern such as, brain, spine, abdomen,
extremities, and breast can be completed in shorter amounts of
time with higher quality film--to help determine a patient health
status. However, low field scans (0.35 Toshiba, Hitachi, Picker
0.23) are also used for the examination of the obese, and
claustrophobic patients, allowing difficult patients to be processed.
The information obtained assists the doctor in their choices for
course of treatment.
Injections are performed on patients who need contrast, thus
reducing the number of nurses needed in the MRI department. The
completion of patient files, and ordering supplies such as, film,
contrast, and folders, reduce secretarial duties, which in turn will
helped decrease congestion in the MRI department. S
Radiology Technologist (Director)
Responsibilities include: Managing patient flow, radiographic imaging, film
development, preparing radiographic film for surgery, coordination of Radiology
Technologist, meeting with sales representatives about products and equipment,
keeping a maintenance log, and ordering radiographic film.
Managing patient flow to reduce departmental congestion, allowing radiographs to be
●
taken in an efficient manner. Performed radiographic examination for eleven Doctors
including specialty views, allowing the flexibility to take radiographs on typical, atypical,
and emergency cases. Correlating radiographic film with patient files for surgery,
enabling the Doctors to quickly determine course of action, and spend more time on
patient care.
Coordination of Radiology Technologist encompasses the preparation of weekly
●
scheduling--reducing the office manager's task load, while being put in a leadership role.
Implementation of protocol changes, continual training, and support, which correlates
into increasing the efficacy of the Radiology Department by decreasing the time it takes
to do procedures, while increasing the quality of patient management.
Meeting with Radiology sales representatives in regards to products and equipment.
●
Decisions made on type and company, while negotiating price and warranty for an x-ray
machine and processor. The keeping of a maintenance log for the x-ray equipment,
making sure regular service is done causing a higher level of performance and extending
the life of the equipment. Determination was made on the type of radiographic film by:
research, sampling, and good public relations enabling us to save 10% on high quality
radiographic film.
