Jahangir Hospital Established in 1946 Jehangir Hospital, Pune is a 305-

bedded hospital, which works closely with the Hirabai Cowasji Jehangir

Medical Research Institute and the National Aids Research Institute. It

handles around 70,000 patients annually including International patients

who come from countries that include the Gulf and Africa.

The hospital offers quality patient care, excellent medical services,

effective nursing care and a humane approach in rendering patient care. The

Intensive Care Unit, the Oncology Day Care Unit and General Medicine are

. Dispenses medications according to the inpatient physicians' orders

prescriptions

. Monitors pre-packaging and labeling of medications in unit dose

quantities for patients

. Responds to queries regarding drug availability, dosage, indications

and compatibility

. Contact with physicians to conform the details of prescriptions

. Records medications as well as fills nursing and staff requisitions

. Compounds extemporaneous prescriptions of physicians by following

accepted professional standards

. Responsible for reviewing prescriptions to ensure prescription of

correct doses

. Performs the tasks of preparing and supervising the preparation of

ointments, liquid medicines, tablets, powders, and other medications

. Generates information and suggestions on the use as well as effects

of medications

. Issues prescribed medicines and packages in accordance with strict

control procedures

. Handles stocks and order supplies of medicines and drugs as well as

maintains inventories of pharmaceuticals

. Provides advice to medical practitioner on incompatibility of drug

and contra-indications
