directory consulting services. Our clients range from Fortune 100
companies to small businesses. Projects included: consulting services for
mail and directory systems that supported millions of users scattered
around the globe, assisting enterprises that needed recommendations and
assistance with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of
firewalls, IDS/IPS, routers, and related technologies. Customers include:

Client Engagements:
Internet Service Provider: September 2012 - December 2012 - my client had
an immediate need for someone with my skill set to start assessing their
new infrastructure immediately. They had recently deployed a new mail
system and they were having issues with features but more importantly
stability and performance. I worked with them and the vendor to find and
and resolve the issues they were experiencing.
Legal Firm: September 2012 - March 2012 - I was brought in to update their
systems. The systems had been working nicely for 2+ years but they decided
it was time to patch/upgrade them. I was responsible for updating the
operating system, Sun Cluster, and all of the applications and middleware
in use: Oracle Messaging Server, MTA, POP/IMAP Proxy, Convergence/Webmail,
Instant Messaging, Application Server/Glassfish, Oracle Webserver, Calendar
Server, LDAP Servers. The client had a handful of servers in production and
provided me with 2 systems for testing.
Global wireless carrier: March 2011 - March 2012 Part of a team supporting
a messaging infrastructure used by millions of mobile devices. I handled
day to day operations, working with vendors to resolve issues, planned and
implemented updates to the systems.

AKO/DKO Mail Engineer, providing information security, messaging, and
directory consulting services. A member of a small engineering team
responsible for the AKO/DKO mail system infrastructure which included
software from Oracle and Good Mobile Messaging, and VMware. Deploy and
support new services until they are handed over to the day to day
operations team. Work with various vendors to integrate their products and
services to AKO/DKO, including S/MIME support in the various clients in
use. Ensuring compliance with DoD standards (FIPS) and related encryption
technologies and performing remediation after security audits. This
included both NIPR and SIPR networks and Disaster Recovery sites. Tasked
with writing scripts to migrate users from the various Microsoft Exchange
sites to AKO/DKO mail services.
Sun Microsystems, Menlo Park, California
May 2000-October 2005
Project Engineer responsible for the architecture, design, and
implementation of infrastructure services for Sun customers. Assisted
customers with development, testing, migrations, and performance
management. Customers included: Comcast, Cablevision, US Army (AKO), Bank
of America, Washington Mutual, Ithaca College, and New York University,
Verizon. AIG, Eastlink, Medical University of North Carolina, Schlumberger.
Client Engagements:
Fortune 100 Multi-National Manufacturing Company: 2005 Worked on the
architecture and design of a mail infrastructure for 80,000 global
mailboxes based on the Sun ONE Messaging Server, to replace their existing
Microsoft Exchange Servers.
Cablevision: 2000-2001 Offering of high-speed Internet, digital cable TV
and digital voice service resulted in rapid growth. It became necessary to
replace the existing Sendmail email infrastructure. Designed and
implemented architecture to meet the customers strategic and tactical
requirements, including a migration plan allowing for minimal outage for
500,000 users. Lead the migration effort, experiencing only a 3-hour
planned outage during the overnight.
New York University 2003 Thirteen schools, colleges, and divisions at five
major metropolitan centers. Assisted the University's team in preparing
for a migration from Netscape Messaging Server to the Sun ONE Messaging
Server. Worked with the University's Systems Administrators to install and
configure the Sun ONE Messaging Server in a symmetric Sun Cluster
environment to support approximately 200,000 mailboxes.
Bank of America: 2004 Operations in 29 states, The District of Columbia,
and 31 foreign countries. Assisted the customer in converting their legacy
Innosoft PMDF systems to The Sun ONE Messaging Server to handle nearly 1
million messages per day. Reviewed the configuration and helped tighten
the security of the application, made performance improvement suggestions,
and assisted in fine tuning a separate Sun ONE Messaging Server
installation that supports over 1 million online banking customer's
mailboxes.
US Department of Defense (US Army): 2001,2003,2005 Assisted in stabilizing
the legacy Netscape Messaging Server installation while planning a
migration to Sun ONE Messaging Server. Migrated their single NMS system to
Sun ONE Messaging Server and assisted in improving the overall Sun ONE
infrastructure, including Messaging and Directory. Subsequently returned
to help implement a Disaster Recovery site that included supporting the
messaging infrastructure for 1.8 million mailboxes, and also lead an
upgrade effort to the messaging infrastructure.
Comcast: 2003 21.4 million cable customers, 7.7 million high-speed Internet
customers, and 1.2 million voice customers. Member of a Sun Professional
Services team that audited the clients Sun ONE infrastructure, supporting
over 2 million mailboxes, and assisted in implementing recommendations for
improvement. Designed and implemented a mail server template control
process to track changes to the messaging configuration. Assisted the
company in ensuring the configuration was stable, consistent, and tailored
for optimum performance in their environment.

Internet Services/Security Team
This team was charged with the architecture, installation, configuration,
security, and maintenance of the perimeter architecture and services,
firewalls and related services throughout Xerox. Individual
responsibilities included the design and setup of VPNs, Xtranet, Remote
Access, root level DNS, HTTP Proxies, and other SMTP relays. Products
supported included Check Point Software Technologies Firewall-1 and Network
Associates Gauntlet Firewall. Responsible for many installations of
Solaris both inside the DMZ and on the internal network.
Infrastructure Specialist
Initially, a member of a small team charged with engineering a migration
plan from Novell's Global MHS to Microsoft Exchange, for 80,000 users,
while maintaining support for the many legacy email systems Xerox had in
place (XNS, Sendmail, cc:Mail, Banyon Vines, Lotus Notes). Designed,
implemented and administered a global mail hub infrastructure at Xerox
using Internet standards as the foundation. This was based on Innosoft's
PMDF mail switch product using an OpenVMS implementation. The mail hub was
designed to allow seamless communication between the many legacy messaging
systems within the customers environment as well as the Internet.
