New York Downtown Hospital (June 2007- Present)

Vice President- Operations; Administrative Director- Peri- Operative Services

As part of senior leadership team works with the clinical directors and hospital department heads to improve the delivery of healthcare services.

* Worked closely with the Chairs in Surgery, Orthopaedics, OB/Gyn to increase the number of operating rooms and design new work patterns resulting in an overall growth in case volume. Steady increases in surgical volume were realized annually. (by 12% from 2007-2012); most notably in spine surgery, joint and general orthopaedic surgery.

* One of the key individuals in developing space programs in the new Wellness Center while overseeing the design and construction of this new Center.

* Worked with finance to develop and test business models regarding new clinical modalities, i.e. Interventional Radiology, Endoscopic Ultrasound, Vascular Surgery as well as Cardiac Imaging and MRI.

* Collaborated with the clinical leadership in Radiology in the design and construction of the new MRI suite and the Interventional Suite for Radiology and Cardiology.

* Most recent activity has focused on streamlining the day-to-day operations of hospital support departments: Purchasing/ Supply Chain, Environmental Services and Bio-Medical Engineering.

* Serve as the lead individual in planning the conversion of NYDH`s Materials Management and Supply Chain functions to the systems and procedures of the NYP Health System

Lenox Hill Hospital (June 2004-June 2007)

Developed business models to expand scope of clinical services available through the Heart and Vascular Center. Worked with the clinical chairs in Surgery, Radiology and Interventional Cardiology to develop integrated clinical programs in cardiac and vascular surgery. Worked closely with the cardiology leadership to establish a CT Angiography component to LHH`s diagnostic services

* Achieved success in growing the interventional service lines by more than 20% from 2005-2007.

Responsible for developing business models for multispecialty cardiovascular product lines. Drafted program plans for the hospital`s acquisition of new capital equipment for Cardiac Surgery, Interventional Cardiology and the Radiology Services, including the purchase and installation of three new 16-slice CT units, a new Bi-Plane suite for Neurosurgical and Interventional Vascular procedures

* Implemented business plan to enhance and improve clinical activity and program initiatives for the Cardiology/Cardiac Surgery Heart Institute.

* Completed a major review and overhaul of the existing Charge Master Directory (CDM) updating all hospital and physician billing codes.

* Reengineered the processes for patient-through put to meet the growing needs of the institution resulting from the steady growth of clinical activity and the positive changes in the patient experience.

New York United Hospital Medical Center (April 1999-March 2002)

As CFO, we worked closely with the Board and the hospital`s Affiliate relationship with NYP to try to save the hospital from closure. Responsibilities included managing financial and regulatory reporting. Directed a senior management team with areas of responsibility including: Hospital Finance, Operating Rooms, Peri-operative services, Central Sterile and Receiving, Materials Management, Purchasing, MIS, Admitting, Medical Records and Patient Accounts.

* Instituted zero based budgeting in CY 2001for all hospital departments and programs

* Restructured vendor payments to maximize hospital cash flow

Columbia University/ New York Presbyterian Healthcare System (1985-1999)

Chief Financial Officer, Surgical Services (1996-1999)

Responsible for the oversight and financial management of a $100MM surgical service directly supervising a senior management team of five and a business/financial staff of 16.

* Negotiated business plans resulting in more than $5.5MM of annual support to the Surgical Services.

* Developed a 5-year business plan for the multidisciplinary Liver Disease and Transplantation Center which resulted in clinical initiatives which exceeded projections by 60%.

* Standardized physician billing and collection for the surgical service. Increased Faculty Practice from $15MM to $55MM through enhanced billing procedures, marketing and new program development.

* Active in developing 20,000 square feet for clinical research and program growth.

* Worked with Clinical leaders to gain operational responsibility for the Cardiac and Vascular service lines and the Transplant Programs.

* Responsible for financial management, personnel administration, grants management, contract negotiations, and all phases of building and physician and practice site development.

* Directed a management team to examine the purchasing and contracting practices of the Medical Center`s operating rooms in 1998. This initiative resulted in product standardization and cost reductions

- Achieved capital savings in excess of $1MM and cost reductions through contracting and volume discounts in excess of $2MM, within the first year.
