* CII was the sole consultant of Councilman Huey Brown in his successful effort to rehabilitate the Mulatto Bend area of his West Baton Rouge District

* CII conducted a Blight Elimination and Neighborhood Cleanup with the help of DPW, using available volunteer workers, rented trucks (when we are required to haul debris) and rented equipment such as front-end loaders to remove debris from both public and private properties.

Bush hogs and other mowing equipment are utilized to clear overgrowth and/or mow vacant area and yards.

Normal cleanup activity includes practically anything that is encountered. Trash and litter is removed from vacant lots or street easements and ditches. Larger dumped articles such as furniture, tires and appliances are moved with larger equipment to holding spots where DPW collects the next weekday.

* The Community Improvement ED, Allan Williams, was awarded the City of Baton Rouge Crime Prevention Award in 2004 for our his success in driving drug dealers and prostitutes out of the Northdale Subdivision in the Scenic Highway and Choctaw area

* The CII ED, Allan Williams, was cited in The Advocate several times for his community involvement and activism that included a monetary award given by the BRPD. This award was used to implement the CII Near Town Security Initiative, promulgated by Allan Williams and implemented by the BRPD. The goal and successful result of the initiative was a dramatic reduction of reported criminal activity in a roughly one square mile area just north of downtown Baton Rouge.

* The Community Improvement ED, Allan Williams, was honored in 2005 by Police Chief Jeff LeDuff, and was asked to participate in the inaugural civilian BRPD Officer Training Academy. This 10 week training was successfully completed.

* Community Improvement has been recognized for its efforts by the BRPD and Allan Williams has been solicited to testify on behalf of the BRPD in the department`s 2004, 2008, 2012 CALEA re-certification hearings.

Founding Board Member and Current Vice President of Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge

* Because of the successes of CII neighborhood initiatives, the CII ED, Allan Williams, was recruited by Honeywell to participate in the establishment of a community outreach initiative for Honeywell and other plants in the near Baton Rouge area

* Of the choices considered, it was decided by vote to become an affiliate of Rebuilding Together, headquartered in Washington D.C. www.rebuildingtogether.org which repairs the homes of needy families.

* The nation-wide Rebuilding Together 2012 project docket consisted of repairing almost 9000 homes and non-profit facilities, using 275,000 volunteers, with a total market value of repairs approaching $100,000,000

* In 2012 our affiliate, Rebuilding Together Baton Rouge, repaired 12 homes with a repair value of $240,000. Cumulatively RTBR has repaired over 85 homes and non-profit facilities with the repair value of approximately $1,800,000

First President - Neighborhoods in Action

* Neighborhoods in Action was an initiative of Mayor Bobby Simpson to eliminate blight and curb illegal activity occurring in downtown Baton Rouge and certain inner city neighborhoods; leading to economic betterment for the residents and those visiting Baton Rouge

* Neighborhoods in Action was patterned after Community Improvement and the CII ED, Allan Williams, was recruited by the Simpson Administration to assist drafting the city`s Blight Elimination Ordinance of 2004 and lobbying city council for its passage

* The city was divided into Neighborhoods in Action districts with their own boards and officers, of which Allan Williams was elected the president of the initial district that included downtown Baton Rouge and near-downtown neighborhoods
