VOLUNTEER WORK
2006-2007
Assisted as park aid to Greynold’s Park in Miami, Fl. This position tasked the volunteer working with
field maintenance of the park and adjacent areas. A general knowledge of the sensitive mangrove
forest ecosystem was required for this position to be obtained.
Field Experience
Junior Field Camp: Field study through three of five geological provinces in the Appalachians (the
Appalachian Basin, the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Piedmont Province), followed by field studies of
the Miami limestone formation and the Palm Beach Coastal terrains. Upon completion was tasked to
produce a concise field report on the metamorphic terrains of the Blue Ridge Province, Southern
Appalachians.
Senior Field Camp: Six day field study through the United States Rockies conducting various field
projects including production of two geological maps, creation of stratigraphic columns, and
production of a field history report on the Animus River Valley: Durango, Co.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Conducted a Directed Independent Study in planetary geology under the direction of Assistant
professor Xavier Comas of Florida Atlantic University. Research Paper titled, Geomorphology of
Mars: a review of recent progress.
