Thank you for reviewing my web site and resume today. My experience encompasses a unique and in-depth combination of exten-
sive experience in Art Direction, project leadership and coordination, on-site supervision, attraction conceptual design & illustration,
detailed show sets, branding, graphic design, and computer modeling.
Most recently for over two years, I was Director of Project Design at MSI (a.k.a. Wyatt Design Group) in Pasadena. Significantly
while with MSI, I worked on-site at Thinkwell s office for 9 months as the Art Director for one of the Warner Bros. Theme Park, Abu
Dhabi s main E-Ticket attractions, and was lead designer/art director for two other attractions in the same Land. I was also involved
in the early stages of the winning scheme Thinkwell created for the park s signature attraction as a creative, I.P and story consultant.
.,
I was also Land Lead for Parque Festival Mexico, designing about 8 different rides, establishing the overall look of the land and a
variety of F&B exteriors, as well as facility planning and designing the facades for the park s Main Street.
In the Spring of 2001, I worked as a Visual Development Artist on director Brad Bird s two time Academy Award winning superhero
action adventure-comedy film The Incredibles at Pixar Animation Studios. This work consisted of designing multiple environmental
settings for exterior and interior scenes for use in the film as virtual sets, technology, props, and designs for the movie s nemesis - the
Omnidroid. This entailed comprehensive conceptual renderings, drawings, sketches, and computer modeling. In Spring 2003,
I completed work with Forrec Ltd. as a Senior Designer, providing lead exhibit concept design, and illustration for the 43,000 ft2
Space Navigation exhibit of Shanghai ScienceLand, the second phase of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum located
in China. For Reich + Petch Design International, I conceptualized museum exhibit pitches including the Smithsonian Institution s
Ocean Hall.
While at The Hettema Group (formerly known as Phil Hettema & Associates) as Senior Designer, I was involved in creating designs
and illustrations for museum exhibits, environments, theme park attractions, and graphic design, most notably for The Russian
Jewish Museum and The National D-Day Museum. At Angel City Designs, I was Senior Designer working on brand marketing
events, movie premiers, and themed corporate projects. This included working on the 2004 Upfronts promotional annual events
for FOX Broadcasting and CBS Broadcasting respectively, and movie premier events for The Chronicles of Riddick and Spider-Man 2,
creating conceptual renderings and detailed set drawings of dimensional staging areas and displays and extensive graphic design.
Beginning the Fall of 2003, I served as Art Director at Wacky World Studios working on a variety of projects including designing and
supervising various phases of design and set drawings for Mariners, a 40,000 ft2 themed project, and a five storey themed tower
structure for Busch Gardens Tampa theme park. Regular duties included acting as liaison with clients, and supervising a design
department of 9 people.
During my three years with Sony Development, I served as a Senior Designer working directly with Trevor Bryant, Director of
Design and Senior V.P Creative for the design and development of projects within the urban entertainment center Metreon in
.
San Francisco for Citibank, M&M Mars, and EDS. As an designer for noted French graphic novelist Jean Giroud (aka Moebius)
Moebius Airtight Garage (ATG) in both Metreon and Sony s Mediage center in Tokyo, I made significant contributions to the
design of the attractions. Supervision, vendor and contractor supervision of sculptors, model builders, painters, and design admin-
istration of Cinnabar, Sunbelt Scenic, Jesler Enterprises, and Parsons Infrastructure and Technology Inc. personnel were important
functions of mine for the Mediage project. For Sony s Musik Box attraction at Sony s European headquarters in Berlin, Germany,
as well as Mediage, I provided initial design concepts for The Beatles Yellow Submarine Adventure simulator ride, and participated
in project development meetings aimed at creating overall masterplan project vision.
Prior to MSI, I was designing custom corporate exhibits and events at Button Group for entertainment and technology firms. This
involved daily project leadership, giving client pitches, daily direct communication and meetings with the client s marketing depart-
ments, domestic and overseas fabrication vendors, internal coordination, on-site supervision of assembly crews, conceptual design
& illustration, design intent CAD drawings, computer modeling, and extensive graphic design for numerous clients. There were
revenues of roughly $400K generated from my graphic designs alone. In 2000-1, I was a Senior Designer at the San Francisco head
office of Landor Associates, international brand consultants, in their Branded Environments group. This included duties in the area
of creating branded experiences for FedEx, VISA, Xerox, Rand McNally and British Petroleum. This work consisted of extensive con-
ceptual design, sketching, illustration, computer modeling, coordination and mentoring of junior staff.
Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Sywa Sung
