PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

2008 – Present – Graduate Research Assistant, Department of Plant Pathology/Plant, Soil, and Microbial Sciences, Michigan State University (East Lansing Michigan)

Thesis and Dissertation Research: Employ the scientific method to investigate problems in turfgrass pathology and disease management. More specifically, design experiments and analyze data in field, and controlled environments to test hypotheses related to disease incidence and epidemiology.

Extension & Website Development: Dynamically engaged in the turfgrass industry through trade publications and local, national, and international conference presentations. Co-creator and administrator of ; a user-friendly, interactive turfgrass diseases website that incorporates research and extension into a web-based disease diagnostic tool geared toward homeowners and turfgrass professionals.

Product Testing & Cooperative Research: Integral member of the turfgrass pathology lab at MSU, aiding in the design, execution, analysis, and reporting of commercial plant health product trials. Research includes field and greenhouse experiments utilizing MSU facilities as well as on-site product testing with industry cooperators at more than ten different regional and national locations.

Teaching Assistant: Develop and implement new curriculum for upper level undergraduate plant pathology, turfgrass management, and crop and soil science courses. Provide office hour consultation, grade homework and exams, evaluate student performance.

Mentor & Instructor: Actively engaged in the MSU-China International Turfgrass Cooperation, which classically trains Chinese intern students in the practices of golf and turfgrass management. Mentor and coach for the MSU undergraduate turfgrass Quiz Bowl team.
