* Significantly changed the culture of leadership in the district, working collaboratively with the school board, administrators, teachers, and community to develop a Contract for Excellence based on the following components: reduced class size; extended day program; Instructional Coaches in all elementary and middle schools; increased school day length for all levels; implementation of an Early Childhood Education Center; increased remedial staff in reading and mathematics for grades K-8; implementation of a new Alternative Education Program for high school students; and implementation of a new Credit Recovery Program for high school students. These efforts had the dual role of helping students achieve at unprecedented academic levels and expanding the responsibility of results.
