they may make an informed decision when voting to fill the 2013 vacancies. This is a

2. How long have you been a Terlingua Ranch owner?
I have owned property for several years; my husband and his family have been
property owners since the 1970 s.
3. To what degree have you been involved with Terlingua Ranch & POATRI?
Attended quarterly board meetings and participated in conversations and
discussions with Board members over the years regarding my own and other
property owner concerns. My husband and I are the AFLAC insurance agents
responsible for servicing the Ranch employees regarding their AFLAC
employee-funded insurance.

5. Current or Last Employer or brief resume describing yourself:
Since 2002 I have been Owner/Independent Agent/Special Projects Coordinator
for AFLAC Insurance.
Previously, I held jobs with the DEA as a First Responder on clandestine drug
labs; worked for Radiation Oncology of the South Plains during which time I
helped establish women s cancer education, prevention & early-detection clinic;
Director of a federally funded program to provide services for people with
disabilities; Manager of Mental Health Center for people with disabilities.

If Yes, please explain: Yes, my husband and I are personal friends with Dori
and Tom Ramsay.

Section 2: Candidate Skills, Contributions and Experience Use the sub-questions
to provide answers to the following questions: (Please limit your answers to 100 words
or less.)
1. Mission:
What is your specific interest in serving on the Board of POATRI?
I have a keen appreciation for and sense of responsibility toward the total
Ranch area and Ranch Owners, including resident and non-resident
property owners alike. I would like to be a part of the current positive
atmosphere and be involved in planning for the future as our Ranch
community continues to evolve.
Do you have particular ranch committees in which you are interested or
particular areas of concern relating to ranch operations?
I would be willing to serve on any committee or taskforce.
2. Experience:
What skills or expertise can you offer to the Board of POATRI?
Responsible for up to $2.5 Million long-term federally funded projects;
experience with personnel management, recruiting, hiring, etc.; have
created projects for infrastructure, record-keeping, marketing;
experience in public speaking.
What specific experience do you have with reading and interpreting financial
statements? The budgeting process?
Work responsibilities have included reading & interpreting financial
statements; experience in long and short-term budgeting and planning.
3. Board Member Role:
What previous/current board service, leadership or volunteer experience do
you have?
Served as Advisory Board Member for an organization serving children
& people with disabilities; lead religious discussion classes; wilderness
expedition leader.
Section 3: Candidate Views on POATRI Ranch Operations and Director
Responsibility
1. Please discuss your suggestions/goals relating to the 4 major areas of ranch
operation shown below? (200 word limit for entire answer)
a. Financial strategies such as assessment collection and budget planning and
oversight.
Create and maintain financial solvency while providing for the delivery of
promised services.
b. Road Rehabilitation programs.
Adequate road maintenance to all ranch roads assuring safe access for all
property owners as well as emergency personnel.
c. Use of the Lodge facilities.
Lodge facilities should be well-maintained, attractive and be a source of
pride to the Owners, a marketing tool for prospective owners, and
continue to be available to both property owners and the general public
resulting inn a positive cash flow that benefits everyone.
d. Property Owner Communications and other communications. Honest
communication and resulting appropriate transparency will continue to
build Owner trust and reduce internal conflict. Continue the quarterly
newsletter; Face Book has proven to be a worthwhile communication
tool.
2. What is your understanding of your ethical and fiduciary responsibilities if a
member of the POATRI Board of Directors? (100 word limit)
To conduct myself in word and deed in an ethical and honest manner,
striving to project and maintain a positive reflection of the sincere intentions
of the Board, and striving to serve the good of all property owners.

My name is Michelle Chiles. I share ownership in 3 pieces of Terlingua Ranch property
(Cedar Springs, Lodge, Lake Ament Road areas). My husband and I are in the process of
remodeling an existing Terlingua Ranch home for our future permanent use. My
husband s family first became property owners in the 1970 s. Subsequent to that, I was
introduced to the area about 10 years ago and now, share their affection for the area.
It is that affection, that prompts my desire to volunteer my time and services toward the
betterment of Terlingua Ranch. Due to my skills and experience, I believe I can be a
valuable Board Member.
My credentials:
B.S. Degree (Recreation)
Texas Insurance License
Texas Social Worker License (inactive)
Experience with starting, improving programs and businesses, including managing multi-
million dollar government-funded programs.
Experience with creating, managing a successful insurance agency, responsible for
approximately 40 agents and 200 accounts and numerous clients.
Experience with committees, organizations and stake-holders of diverse back-grounds
with sometimes opposing agendas.
Experience with public speaking, fund-raising, marketing.
Experience with nature/wilderness activities.
I have appreciated watching the improvements that the current Board has accomplished,
and would appreciate the opportunity to contribute to further improvements so that all
property owners and their guests can have an opportunity to develop an affection for
Terlingua Ranch just as I and my family have.
