WORK EXPERIENCE

Jan 2011 – Present Architect / Senior Developer (Consultant)

Fox Network Group: Los Angeles, CA

I worked on several of Fox’s core internal line of business Silverlight and WPF applications. I was responsible for building completely new modules from Talent, Submission Tracking, Cast and Crew for Series and Episodes and Awards to name a few. In addition to creating new modules I also worked on extending the core framework. The technologies used to accomplish these tasks are some of the latest cutting edge technologies out there. Starting with VS2010 and TFS 2010 and then using C#, Sql Server 2008, MVVM design pattern, Entity Framework, WCF RIA services as well as controls from 3rd party vendors such as Telerik and Infragistics to create a user friendly and responsive enterprise application.

May 2009 – Dec 2010 Architect / Senior Developer (Consultant)

Axis Capital: Hartford, CT

I created the next version of their enterprise indexing and document management system that would support all of their sub businesses (ie. Claims, ReInsurance etc). This system used some of the most cutting edge technologies (.NET 4.0, Silverlight 4, RIA services, MEF, LINQ and Entity Framework as well as 3rd party tools from Infragistics, Aspose, Atalasoft and Visual Guard) to deliver a very robust, fast, and next generation user friendly plugin based UI. These technologies allowed the UI to dynamically change different views at runtime based on the current user roles and which business areas they had access to. It allowed for dynamic searches based on user input. It also supported advanced features like “google” type-ahead, document splitting and document annotation to help assist the user when indexing and searching for documents/policies. The system also supported multi-file uploads asynchronously to the backend database and SharePoint. I also created a custom image viewer that would support: jpeg, gif, tif and png. The viewer would allow you to rotate, scale and zoom images all without using any third party components. Data was served up from Sql Server 2005 via the Entity Framework with some custom views and integrated with SharePoint.

Feb 2009 – May 2009 Architect and Team Lead (Consultant)

General Reassurance – New England Asset Management: Farmington, CT

Looked at their legacy system (vb6 and asp) and proposed a new architecture (prototype) to help them migrate their legacy system to .NET/C#. Created the core architecture and infrastructure for a newly designed enterprise financial system to replace the companies legacy application. System was designed to support a standand n-tier SOA base architecture. The data access layer was designed using SQL 2005 and the Entity Framework in the data tier with queries being written with LINQ to Entities. WCF was used to expose the business facade and entities and silverlight was used as the presentation tier to provide a rich internet application to their users.

June 2006 – Feb 2009 Architect and Team Lead

Oakleaf Waste Management: East Hartford, CT

Architect and technical lead working on a full re-write of OAKLEAF's internal custom ERP system from Access and SQL Server 2000 to ASP.NET 3.5 and SQL Server 2005. Leading the project's design and implementation efforts which include three ASP.NET 3.5 applications, a BizTalk Server 2006-based workflow engine, external interfaces with vendors and clients, business intelligence dashboards and MS Reporting Services reports. Responsible for gathering and formulating requirements, heading the design efforts and coordinating tasks amongst the team members. Designed and implemented a code generation framework based on custom and community (.NetTiers) Codesmith templates. Implemented a security framework with custom membership and role providers as well as secured the system's web services interfaces using SOAP header and session based authentication. Designed and setup a Team Foundation Server environment for source control, work item tracking, automated builds and unit/web/load tests. Led and built a command driven engines framework for OAKLEAF's backend processes including accounts payable invoice reconciliation and payable generation. I was also responsible for 4 other developers which involved managing their time and tasks via tfs. Very agile environment in which I managed the bi-weekly builds to production.

The enterprise solutions consisted of 3 separate components that communicated using MSMQ and XML web services, which allow the applications to be loosely coupled and provide a SOA for enterprise growth and scalability.

Jan 2005 - Aug 2005 Senior .NET Web Developer (Consultant)

Belcan Corporation: E.Hartford, CT

Senior .NET developer for Belcan Corporation. Used VB.NET, C# and ASP.NET to prototype and develop an enterprise wide Belsuite portal utilizing a multi-tiered full software development life-cycle approach. The architecture was designed to use a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) that allowed the use of services to support business requirements. In the SOA, resources were made available to other participants in the network as independent services (web services) that are accessed in a standardized way. The back end database environment consisted of Sql Server 2000. The database architecture was modeled of off the Microsoft factory pattern in which reflection was used to load the correct database assembly at run time base off of configurations stored in XML format. The Belsuite project consisted of three parts: BelTime, BelTask and BelView each of which was built off of the SOA for reusability and maintainability.

Sept 2004 – Jan 2005 Senior .NET Web Developer (Consultant)

INGInvestment Management: Hartford, CT

Senior .NET developer for a $160 Billion Asset Management Firm. Used VB.NET and ASP.NET to modify and add enhancements to an enterprise-wide Equity information portal, utilizing a multi-tiered full software development life-cycle approach. Used many third-party supplied components, including Infragistics ASP.NET web objects, PowerUp Web Tree, GrabQuote, and ChartFx. SQL Server 2000 was on the back end, which housed a VLDB with several tables containing in excess of 100 million rows of data. Created a fully-integrated Task Management/Bug Tracking tool which allowed users to report bugs and request enhancements; allowed the project manager to create and assign tasks to developers; allowed a global error handler to automatically register untrapped system errors. Developed a Trades history viewer screen which allowed users to systematically query the database for closed trades based on portfolio and/or ticker parameters. Added major enhancements to the Universe Viewer screen. This page allowed users to view the contents of an investable universe of equity securites and sort them by model score. I added custom pagination and sophisticated searching capabilities (not using the supplied DataGrid control). Rewrote nearly every screen in the application so that it would use a modular data capture methodlogy whereby data would be pulled from the database, or the method or data cache, accordingly, stored in the Viewstate, and then, if the user requested it, exported to MS Excel via a custom Excel handler object. Coded a custom style tag class which was used for formatting the Excel output.

July 2003 – Sept 2004 .NET Web Developer

Stanley Works: New Britain, CT

Web programmer in a development position within a worldwide manufacturing company. Responsibilities include the design, development, testing and integration of custom business applications to merge with company workflow processes using Microsoft SQL Server 2000, VB.NET, ASP.NET and XML Web Services. I was involved in the complete life cycle of application development. Beginning with, talking to the business analyst to come up with a requirements document which has allowed me to build on my communication skills both in a business sense and on the technical side. From there I would begin the database design in SQL Server 2000, creating a normalized database structure and writing the stored procedures necessary to perform the database transactions for the applications. In the design of the applications I used object oriented principles and followed Microsoft’s best practices. Creating base/templated classes in which all pages inherit from a common page/interface. Writing custom controls for code and interface re-usability that all pass through or use a common data access layer that will interact with SQL Server 2000. I also wrote a code generator that would create their data access layer in xml web services. What this did was created a common standard interface and increased development/productivity time because each developer wouldn't have to go and re-write everything from scratch.
