OBJECTIVE: Entry level Geological/Geophysical position

SUMMARY

Pursuing Master of Science in Geology (Geophysics) (expected graduation May 2013).

A two yearlong research internship experience in airborne magnetics.

Completed Master of Science in Geophysics from Andhra University, India in 2009.

Skills include seismic data processing and interpretation for oil and gas exploration, gravity and

magnetic data acquisition and processing for mapping basement of a sedimentary basin and minerals,

able to handle the seismic data to find earthquakes through least-square inversion and grid search

methods, MATLAB and Octave programming.

EXPERIENCE

TEACHING ASSISTANT, SIUC-GEOLOGY; CARBONDALE, IL 2011-PRESENT

Teaching History of the Earth and Natural Hazards labs.

Organizing labs, preparing quizzes, grading lab reports, homework and quizzes, proctoring exams.

RESEARCH INTERN, NATIONAL GEOPHYSICAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE; INDIA 2009-2011

Processing and interpretation of aeromagnetic data to explore dyke and fault structures in Kadapa

basin of India.

Participated in multi-parameter (electromagnetic and radiometric) airborne geophysical surveys for

mapping Uranium deposits in Western India. Presented the research results at national and

international conferences.

SUMMER INTERN, NATIONAL GEOPHYSICAL RESEARCH INTERN; INDIA MAY 2008-JULY 2008

Seismic refraction data analysis for crustal modeling using ray theory.

Learned the practical steps involved in 2D modeling of refraction travel time data using ray-tracing

technique for regional mapping of deep crust. Presented the results at a national conference.

EDUCATION

M.S. Geology, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, IL, 2011-2013 (May)

Thesis: Processing and interpretation of the ocean bottom seismograph data to determine the down-

dip of the Tonga seismogenic zone. This work involved picking P and S - wave arrival times,

writing and/or modifying event location algorithms in MATLAB, error analysis in event location

and interpreting the results in terms of seismogenic zone geometry. GPA - 3.9/4

Master of Science in Geophysics, Andhra University, India, 2006-2009.

Thesis: Seismic and Gravity data acquisition and processing. This work involved seismic refraction

and reflection data acquisition and processing for examining the vulnerability of near surface

for earthquakes; micro-gravity data acquisition and processing for mapping density variations

to demarcate the underground mined and unmined locations of Jharia coal field.

B.Sc (Math, Physics, Chemistry), Acharya Nagarjuna University, India, 2002-2005.
