Reviewed weekly cash disbursements before releasing for check payment, and served as back-up for accounts payable, accounts receivable, check payments, and on-line credit-card transactions. Performed daily monitoring of all company bank accounts to determine cash flow and identify any irregularities. Responsible for wire transfers of foreign currency funds to international vendors. Balanced monthly various general ledger accounts and prepare associated monthly journal entries. Assisted with Association budget preparation. Contributions & Delinquency Manager, Plumbers & Pipefitters National Pension Fund Alexandria, VA (08/2000 to 04/2008)

As department manager, planned, managed and coordinated all functional areas of department according to ERISA, Trustees' Manual and Plan Document. Was Fund point of contact for inquiries regarding Employer Withdrawal Liability (EWL), and applied rules of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974) and MPPA (Multiemployer Pension Plan Amendment Acts of 1980) to employers who withdrew from the Fund. Worked with Fund Counsel with assessments and suits regarding EWL. Verified compliance (or non compliance) with IRS Non-Discrimination and Minimum Coverage regulations, and coordinated the Employer Verification function (verifying that employer's were eligible to participate in the Fund).

Tasked with determining the eligibility status of office workers who made written inquiries requesting their benefits levels, who were not showing in the participant data base. Although based on the specific rules of the Plan for these particular years, all full time employees of Local Unions were eligible to participate in the PPNPF, unless they were covered by another defined benefit plan during this time period. Their eligibility and credit hours were determined and entered into the system with the calculated the benefit amount.

Served as designated backup to Director of Contributions and Pensions, providing supervision to his employees, as well as handling requests for contract analysis and research, or answering questions about the Fund. Supervised department of 25 supervisory and non-supervisory employees.

Instrumental in identifying problem areas in the new Accounts Receivable system (basys) by performing an in-depth analysis of the system and procedures to evaluate the problem areas in the basys system, and to determine how differently the basys processes flowed from one step to another, and how to make improvements in accuracy and productivity. Developed new procedures to more efficiently process the work, and spearheaded re-training of all department employees using the new procedures. This resulted in timely and accurate processing of cash receipts and collections, which resulted in the efficient completion of the backlog of work done, and an increase in the accuracy of the processing of pension applications.

Also conducted workforce analysis and planning to improve employees' productivity and engagement of their work by evaluating each employee's skills and abilities, and determining which position they would fit best in. Worked with supervisor of group to set productivity standards for different processes discussed with each operator and set achievable goals for them. Based on the workforce analysis, made recommendation to HR to provide the Fund employees and management with efficiency, time management, and organization training. Training also helped the department increase productivity.

Assistant Supervisor, Accounting Department, IAM National Pension Fund, Washington, DC (06/1998 to 08/2000)

Initially processed various pension applications, learning to apply the rules of the Plan the retiree was a participant in, and determining the eligibility and benefit amount that would be awarded. Ensured that the correct hours were applied to each member's records for eventual pension calculations. As assistant supervisor, assisted with handling request by PBGC to takeover two Funds (possible Trusteed Funds), the Pattern Makers Fund and the District 15 Fund, by recovering the missing remittance reports and other documents for these two Funds from the Local Union Offices, entering participant hours into the system, and ensuring all documentation from these Funds prepared for imaging. Performed detailed work reviewing collective bargaining agreements established by unions which the participating employers of the pension fund were signatory to. Ensured all remittance report cash receipts and contractor credits processed correctly and on a timely basis, including approval of all debit/credit entries related to cash receipts and credit history corrections. Ensured delinquency letters and monthly invoices sent by end of month. Worked with Fund Counsel to collect delinquent accounts. Responsible for preparation of Trustees' reports for contribution (income) section. Assisted with Fund budget preparation. Supervised six employees.

Conducted graduate level class in Financial Management to university students. Advised students on research project (Child Care Center start-up including budget and program).
