SENIOR LEVEL ADMINISTRATION

* Regularly participated in development of system-wide plans, goals and objectives as a member of the senior administrative management group and its various committees.

* Researched, planned and worked with key stakeholders to develop an improvement on the transitions of care processes for sending and receiving patients from one care setting to another by utilizing lean methodology.

* Key member of a team which developed a nationally recognized palliative medicine program (in-patient, out-patient and clinic).

* Organized, directed and evaluated the delivery of the various services and products of a large and expansive home health services division of a large healthcare system.

* Provided administrative oversight and direction through subordinate department heads. Assisted department heads in establishing standards of operational services, developing organizational plans to carry out activities within budgetary limits (up to $87M) and evaluating services provided.

* Completely redesigned and replaced management personnel at the divisional business line director level. This included the Home Care/Hospice, Durable Medical Equipment and Services, Pharmacy Services, Quality Management Dept. and the Sales and Marketing Dept.

* Ensured the successful implementation of the Prospective Payment System for the Home Care operations.

* Recognized for a $1.8 million dollar improvement to the divisional bottom line within the first year of employment.

HOME HEALTH CONSULTING SERVICES

* Developed and organized the first formally structured Home Health Services product line for QuadraMed Corporation. Consulting services included the Home Health, Hospice, DME and Home Infusion Therapy providers.

* Organized and maintained a current and broad-based regulatory/ compliance reference library for consultant and attorney use.

* Developed and implemented provider specific operational assessment and documentation review audit tools, including those utilized for a comprehensive medical record audit and a financial file audit.

* Provided project management for clients and staff; directed compliance consultants for all types of home health services oriented entities.

* Managed on-going Quality Assurance of all final and draft reports before release to clients.

* Developed project proposals and total project expense estimates ($50k to $100k/project).

* Developed and nurtured relationships with legal firms and former clients that utilized home health consulting services.

* Served as an advisory board member for Brownstone Publishers, Inc., publishers of home health publications/newsletters.

HOME HEALTH AGENCY MANAGEMENT

* Managed start-up of two home care organizations, private for profit, non-for-profit and Medicare certified agencies; organized and directed on-going functions; obtained Medicare certification and state licensure; ensured compliance with federal and state regulations; acted as liaison with Board of Directors. Recruited, elected, oriented and trained staff (of over 300 Professional, Paraprofessionals, Admins and Clerical employees). Accountable for the development of fiscal budget assumptions for the preparation of fiscal capital and operational budgets ($5M-$7M); monitoring of accounting and collection systems; monitored and controlled budget goals

* Collaborated with partners in the establishment and continuing operations of a private-for-profit home care nursing service; played key role in obtaining state certification and personalized health care plans; defined nursing department goals and planned in-service training programs.

* Introduced the high tech service division encompassing intravenous infusion and inhalation therapy; ensured the continuous application of state-of-the-art medical services.

NURSING MANAGEMENT

* As Nurse Manager, developed and organized St. Luke's first advanced surgical cluster unit; managed and monitored the 24-hour patient care process for 40 bed unit. Identified secured and allocated physical and human resources; supervised a staff of 55 employees.

* Initiated and instituted system changes that allowed for improved workflow and staff communications including walking rounds and a unit based council structure to promote the concepts of Shared Governance. Successfully prepared and implemented telemetry monitoring for first Surgical Cluster.

* Fostered a supportive environment that enhanced the professional communications between physicians and nurses

PROFESSIONAL LEADERSHIP

* Elected by peers as Chair of the Nursing Management Council at St. Luke's Hospital; led discussions on issues related to nursing practices and which impacted the direction of the Department of Nursing.

* Member, Nursing Building Project Committee working on planning and development of new inpatient Patient Care Services units with Hospital Project Director.

* Served as chairperson for the Cost Containment Committee of the Nursing Department (St. Luke's) which produced a program to be presented statewide emphasizing effective cost containment endeavors. Also served as member on numerous hospital-wide committees and task forces.
