• Taught a short course entitled "Magnetoestratigrafía" at six national universities.

• Collected paleomagnetic samples from 8 Neogene sections, collaborating with Argentine investigators.

1983-1987: Ph.D., Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH

• Dissertation title: Chronology of Neogene tectonics in the Central Andes (27 -33 S) of western Argentina based on the magnetic polarity stratigraphy of foreland basin sediments.

• Dissertation research: Magnetic polarity stratigraphy of Neogene strata in the Precordillera and Sierras Pampeanas in the Central Andean foreland basin over the flat-slab subduction region of NW Argentina.

• Teaching assistant in Physical Geology, Remote Sensing, Stratigraphy & Structure of North America, Field Methods, and Invertebrate Paleontology.

• Conducted a geochronologic study of the Neogene volcanic rocks in south-central Guatemala. Results overturned earlier ideas about Miocene-Pliocene volcanism in northern Central America.

Co-led the Appalachian College Association's Berger Foundation International Seminar to South America: Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil. Three faculty and 14 students crossed most of South America on a west to east traverse at subtropical latitudes (2005).

Examined several Mycenaean sites near Sparta with two Brevard archaeologists (2005).

Co-led Brevard College's GEOL 270 field trip to Greece: Crete, Santorini, Naxos, Mykonos, and Delos with two Brevard archaeologists. Fifteen students participated (2005).

Led the Geological Society of America's student-oriented GeoTrip to southern Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego. Twenty-four students participated in two weeks of camping in Argentina and Chile (2004-2005).

• Led the Geological Society of America's student-oriented GeoTrip to Iceland. 11 students participated in two weeks of camping in Iceland (2004).

• Co-led the Appalachian College Association's Berger Foundation International Seminar to Bolivia. Four faculty and twelve students participated in two weeks of traveling through the different physiographic regions of Bolivia (2004).

• Received tenure and promoted to Associate Professor (2003).

Elected to the College Promotion and Tenure Committee for 2003-2005 and 2005-2007.

Co-authored 5 GSA abstracts about the 2002 Iceland trip with students from the trip. Presented the SEGSA/SCGSA abstract in Memphis.

Co-organized and co-led the 2003 Brevard College trip to study the volcanoes and archaeological ruins of Italy and Sicily.

• Attended ACA (Appalachian College Association) Internationalization Summit, Kingsport, TN, presented posters of various Brevard and GSA trips.

• Developed and led the Geological Society of America's first student-oriented GeoTrip. 26 students participated in two weeks of camping in Iceland (2002).

• Developed and led a Brevard College field trip to Hawaii over Spring Break (2002).

• Led a Geological Society of America Geo Trip to Argentina and Chile. The trip was entitled "New Year's at the End of the World: the Geology of Southern Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego". There were 33 paying participants.(2002)

• Participated on a one-month magnetostratigraphic sampling program in Tertiary strata of the Bolivian Altiplano and Argentine Eastern Cordillera. The program was conducted with Dr. Brian Horton from LSU (now at UCLA).

• Participated on a 3-day GSA Field Trip to Santa Cruz Island, CA.

• Chaired a theme session about Argentine geology at the joint GSA-AAPG sectional meeting in Universal City, CA.

• Presented two invited papers at the joint GSA-AAPG sectional meeting in Universal City, CA.

• Led a 10-day field trip with 20 students to the volcanoes of Costa Rica.
