SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Turned around struggling location. Store located in Chicago was not meeting monthly goals. Analyzed customer base, which was 38% Hispanic, and adjusted merchandising to target customer's needs. Increased marketing to largest customer sector led to a Profit vs. Plan increase of 15% for the year, while cutting shrink 41 points.

Led successful store transition. While moving an existing location to a new Supercenter had to maintain operations until move was complete. Implemented plan for reduction of inventory, sales, profits and demolition. Closed existing location at 10% above sales plan and 6% above profit plan while reducing merchandise selection.

Mentored division management team. Selected by Regional VP to mentor other division GM's in addition to regular General Management duties. Created monthly schedule, including a training matrix. Created bi-weekly conference calls with an open forum. Mentored 16 successful managers in three states over three years.

Won award for diversity leadership. Mount Prospect's culturally diverse associates were not pursuing management opportunities. Personally encouraged associates while breaking through language/cultural barriers. Promoted a total of 25 employees over two years and won Sam Walton Hero Award, one of five company-wide.

Implemented new systems in international stores. Tasked to rollout POS and SKU inventory systems in three acquired stores in Germany in three months. Created project plan to meet deadline and began training associates on new systems while overseeing installation and implementation. Met all deadlines with well-trained staff in place.

Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., a $420B retail merchandiser, 1989 - 2011. Implemented turnarounds and growth strategies, Drove operations at 13 Wal-Mart locations and in corporate roles throughout tenure. Highlights include:

General Manager, Branson, MO (a $109M Supercenter). Asked to take over supercenter struggling to meet monthly sales and profit goals. Increased productivity with new procedures. Exceeded annual sales plan by 12% in nine months and profits by 8% for the fiscal year. Oversaw 508 employees.

Regional Field Trainer, Corporate. Trained management in Southeast region in subjects such as Food School, Diversity/Inclusive Training, Labor Relations, and Inventory Management.

Operations Advisory, Wal-Mart International, Wilmshaven, Germany. Integrated newly-acquired stores from Wuertkaff and Interspar Corporations to Wal-Mart stores.
