2001- present Department of Agricultural Economics, University of Missouri - Assistant

Professor 2001-2007, Associate Professor 2007. Research areas include

transaction costs of agri-environmental policies related to animal waste,

phosphorous, and pesticides; measurement issues related to transaction costs;

determinants of transaction costs including property rights institutions; and

adoption of manure management practices. Courses taught include

environmental economics and international agricultural development.

1997- 2001 Agricultural and Resource Economics, University of Western Australia -

Lecturer. Conducted research on policies relating to agriculturally caused

natural resource and environmental problems including salinity in Australia

and pesticides in Vietnam. Supervised graduate students who examined

1

pollution from shrimp farms in Thailand, the potential of olive plantations to

reduce salinity, and the value of urban bushland in Western Australia.

Taught courses on environmental policy, natural resource economics, and

agricultural production and management.

1993-1997 Department of Applied Economics, University of Minnesota, St. Paul -

Graduate Research Assistant. Conducted research on policies relating to non-

point source pollution. Developed methodology to incorporate transaction

costs in cost effectiveness evaluations. Surveyed hydrological models of

phosphorus runoff and literature relating to water quality problems in the

Minnesota River.

1987-1992 Center for Alternative Plant and Animal Products, St. Paul, Minnesota -

Program Coordinator 1987-1990, Acting Director 1990-1992. Provided

information to farmers, agricultural extension agents, and researchers

regarding alternative enterprises. Organized symposia, coordinated

development of publications, created and edited "BioOptions" newsletter,

THESIS COMMITTEES (University of Western Australia)

At the University of Western Australia all students receiving the B.S. degree perform

original research and write a senior thesis, the best of which are equivalent to an M.S.

thesis at an American University. I was on 5-10 committees each year for the first three

years. In 2000, I was the Natural Resource Management Coordinator which involved

reading approximately twenty theses and coordinating their evaluation.
