Cannon Crew Member, Apr 2008 to Aug 2009
Awarded Cannon Crew Member position at the culmination of 8-week basic training and an additional 4 weeks of intensive, mechanized Field Artillery training. Later I received an overseas assignment in Germany where I was cross-trained as an Infantry man to conduct infantry tactics, securing facilities and personnel, searching for intelligence, conducting patrols, humanitarian missions, raids, traffic control points, detaining, suppressing, and securing enemy combatants. Currently I serve as a Section Chief supervising and training soldiers to prepare them for future deployments, as well as doing administrative paperwork for personnel, protecting lives, being accountable for and maintaining thousands of dollars of government property. I previously supported battlefield operations and provided area/convoy security during overseas assignment in Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom).
Results: Earned consistent accommodations for devotion to duty with citations for excellence in combat, good conduct, relating effectively with culturally diverse populations and protecting property and lives.
Fulfilled a range of Section Chief duties for both combat and peacekeeping missions. Gained proficiencies and experience in: marksmanship, security, investigations, mounted and dismounted patrols, report writing, traffic control points, search and seizures, high value target investigations and suspect interviewing/fingerprinting/processing, detaining, neutralizing, and securing enemy combatants and criminals.
Selected for elite security details providing dignitary protection for visiting generals and other high-ranking officials.
Recognition & Awards Honored with two Army Commendation Medals for excellence in combat (2008/2009), two Certificates Of Achievement for Machine Gunning and Driving (2008/ 2009), Good Conduct Medal (2009), two Over Seas medals (2008/ 2009), Iraqi Campaign medal with a combat star, (2009) and Drivers Wheel Badge (2009).
