Master of Science in Industrial/Organizational Psychology: Department of Psychology, College of

Vision Statement

The MS in Industrial/Organizational Psychology is designed to prepare students for work in applied

settings as well as for continued education. Students are trained using the scientist -practitioner

model advocated by Society for Industrial Organizational Psychology (SIOP).

Application Fee

If English is not the language of nurture, official test scores from the TOEFL, IELTS,

or PTE exam are required

o 500 on the written TOEFL

o 173 on the computer-based TOEFL

o 61 on the internet-based TOEFL

o 5.5 on the IELTS

o 44 on the PTE

Minimum GPA of at least 3.0 in undergraduate courses related to proposed major

Program-Specific Requirements:

A minimum of 15 undergraduate semester hours (or the equivalent) of psychology

courses including: basic statistics and an upper level laboratory course, independent

research, or equivalent, emphasizing the experimental method, data collection,

statistical analysis, and report writing are required.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) required.

Three (3) Letters of Recommendation

Statement of Purpose

o The statement of purpose should include: your purpose in applying for

graduate study, your particular area of specialization within the major field,

your plans for future occupation or profession, and any additional

information that may aid the selection committee in evaluating your

preparation and your aptitude for graduate study. You should specifically

address your goals and objectives in pursuing graduate study.
