Lifetime of casual woodworking experience, with

serious endeavors over the past 20 years concentrating in specific areas of woodturning

and freeform bandsaw boxes. Experience includes exhibiting and selling hand crafted items

at major arts and crafts fairs on a regular basis since 1986, and teaching two woodturning

courses (basic and intermediate) three to four times a year since 1992.

Instructor

Each quarter in the school year I teach a Beginner

Woodturning Course (5 weeks) followed by an Intermediate Woodturning Course (6 weeks).

Each course meets one night a week for 3 hours. Projects include three-legged stool for

Beginner Course, and green wood bowl, platter and lidded box for the Intermediate Course.

Student evaluations have been consistently "excellent."

I teach an Introduction the the Lathe course and a

Bowl Turning course on an as needed basis.

TURNSTYLES 1985 Present

Owner and Woodworker

Self employed woodworker concentrating in

woodturning and bandsaw work. I make a wide variety of turned items including: bowls,

platters, lazy susans, boxes, pens, needle cases, letter openers, mirrors, etc. Bandsaw

work consists of free form, multi-drawer jewelry boxes. All items are made from a variety

of exotic and native hardwoods. I have been selling my items in Arts and Crafts shows

since 1986. Shows include: Sugarloaf Mountain Works Show in Manassas, Va., MPAC shows at

the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va., YMCA Arts and Crafts Fair at Virginia Tech in

Blacksburg, Va., Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival at the Howard County Fairgrounds,

Fairfax Fall Festival in Fairfax, Va., Clifton Fall Festival in Clifton, Va., Occoquan

Craft Fair in Occoquan, Va. and several local county, high school and church fairs.

I have been a member of these two woodturning

organizations since their inception in the mid-1980s. I have been the Vice President of

the local CAW for 1997 and 1998, have demonstrated platter and box turning at chapter

meetings, and have participated in a program panel discussion on marketing turned items.
