work in exchange for rent? (asheville)
This is probably a long shot, but it's worth a try:
I am currently living in Columbus, Ohio, but I am looking to relocate. This is probably a long shot, especially since there's no real way of meeting in person immediately! But it's worth a shot I guess:
I was just wondering if anyone in the area had property...a run-down, un-rentable house, spare room, attic, basement, garage, anything really that I could do work for instead of paying rent...at least until I can find a job. I am 26/female..I can do pretty much anything...general labor, housekeeping, gardening, landscaping, painting, random chores, babysitting, dog watching/walking, things of this nature..you name it. However, I am not an experienced handyman by any means (but pick things up quick if you're willing to teach!). Also I've realized that I need to clarify- NOTHING SEXUAL!
At the moment I have no income so any supplies (paint, tools, etc.) would need to be provided, sorry! I realize that in some cases this might be a problem so I figure I'd put it out there- I don't have a vehicle or driver's license. I rely mostly on public transportation and biking/walking.
Anyway...
People who I thought might be interested in this would be those with dilapidated or untended property they don't know what to do with, who would like someone around to possibly discourage criminal intruders/squatters and clean or fix things up. I have a friendly but protective and well-behaved dog who would be helpful in this. I would love to clean out an old forgotten house...
(Oh yeah, the dog thing, I have a dog who absolutely has to come with me. So this is important.)
The condition of the property is really no big deal, I just need a roof over my head!
Running water would be a big plus! Electricity is cool too being that it's winter, but I'm used to roughing it!
Please feel free to email me any questions or whatever, if you have something like this available :)
