RFC2544 Testing for Carrier-class Ethernet Services

Basic connectivity testing may be sufficient for best-effort services such as residential Internet access which may not have implicit performance guarantees. For corporate customers who require services with specific performance objectives, it is common to employ the "adopted" RFC 2544 tests. RFC 2544, published in 1999 by the IETF, defines the Benchmarking Methodology for Network Interconnect Devices. It was originally designed to allow the standardized testing and benchmarking of a single interconnect device such as a router or a switch (known as the DUT or Device Under Test). This methodology has become the de facto standard performed routinely in QA labs and verification labs in order to quantify the performance of network devices. In this test scenario, a test system is responsible for injecting traffic into the DUT and then analyzing the frames coming out. By correlating the input and output, the test system can measure the transmission characteristics of the DUT. The RFC 2544 benchmarking methodology defines a series of performance measurements. The following are the four benchmark tests that are most commonly implemented in an automated test suite: Throughput: This test measures the highest data rate at which none of the frames are dropped by the DUT. The following frame sizes in bytes should be used during the test 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 1280 and 1518. Latency: Once the throughput has been determined, this test measures the one-way delay through the DUT at the ...

Colocation Bandwidth Redundancy

FiberLineCommunications.com Colocation bandwidth redundancy Bandwidth redundancy is another benefit of utilizing a colocation data center. Depending on their exact location, colocation facilities allow access to several types of bandwidth (Bonded T1, DS3, OC3, OC12, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet) from several providers. If your bandwidth is disabled at your business location, your network traffic will not be interrupted. There is also redundancy at the colocation facility itself because the bandwidth is provided by multiple carriers. To watch this video on YouTube visit youtu.be

BT Home Hub 3 Review HD

Here I have a review of the latest Hub from BT: The BT Home Hub Version 3 which I got as an upgrade from my old BT Home Hub 1. Hope you enjoy :) Rough Script: Hey YouTube, Hope you're all doing OK. Recently I decided to upgrade my Hub from the old BT Home Hub 1 to the latest model, Version 3. I wasn't planning on switching service provider, because I was fairly happy with the service I was receiving, but that's for another video. However I did get the new Home Hub. So as you can see, it has this small, low impact form factor at 110 x 185 millimetres. Its finished with this matte black and this kinda shiney front panel. It features three front lights which are primarily blue, when everything's working, but they flash red, purple and various other colours if problems occur. If we take a look at the back, we can see the ports. We have a power socket, USB. It doesn't seem to be clear what the USB port on the back is supposed to do, I can't get it to work with my printer which isn't a problem because its wi-fi enabled, but the only useful thing I have managed to get it to do is by plugging in a USB stick you can have a small amount of file storage accessible to anyone on the network. To see how to do this, click the annotation on your screen now! Three Ethernet ports compatible up to 100 megabits per second. But the forth Ethernet port is a Gigabit Ethernet so compatible up to 1 gigabit per second which is pretty nice. Finally we have our broadband line in weather your using ...

How to find out if your business qualifies for Metro Ethernet broadband Internet...

realtimet1search.com Ethernet is, quite simply, plugging your network directly into a telecom provider's network. When you bypass the local phone company you cut out an expensive transport step. Having direct access to customers is a carrier's goal as it allows them to control the user's experience from end to end while reducing cost. These savings are passed on to you. If your business currently has a T1, multiple T1s, DS-3, or some other type of commercial grade bandwidth- check realtimet1search.com to see if Ethernet broadband is available..
