SPECIAL INTERESTS:
Research in organofluorine chemistry. New and improved methodology for
selectively introducing fluorine into organic molecules, designing fluorinated
synthons, and developing substrates for F-18 radiolabeling. Member of the
Fluorine Division of the American Chemical Society.
Research in organic synthetic methods with the involvement of reactive
intermediates, including carbenes, diazonium, and diazo species, aryl tri-
azenes, and free radicals.
Application on NMR spectroscopy in structure spectral relationships.
Studies in F-19 and N-15 NMR spectra of research samples. Coordination of
magnetic resonance facility at SIUE.
Teaching of experimental methods in organic chemistry. Developed the
undergraduate organic microscale laboratory curriculum for all undergraduate
students at SIUE.
Bio-Organic Chemistry. Development of fluorinated systems for the study
of biological mechanisms of activity.
