RECOMMENDATIONS:

In my position as firm director of Allen Hall Public Relations, I hired Sarah in September 2009. As a student-run agency run out of the University of Oregon, students, including Sarah, have the opportunity to work with real paying clients and handle real projects. It didn t take long for her to impress me. When the opportunity arose with a new client, I promoted Sarah to an account supervisor position. She surpassed all my expectations and continues to. At the end of the year, her client offered some of the highest praise I ve heard in my four years with AHPR. Sarah’s combination of personality and high quality of work will make her successful in a communications career. Her commitment to excellence made her a huge asset to the agency. She maintains a curiosity for learning that is contagious to her colleagues. She is highly reliable, professional and a thoughtful problem-solver. She has maturity beyond her years and leads her team at AHPR with inspiration and respect. I have no doubt that she will be an asset to any public relations operation. I recommend her without hesitation. If you have any questions, or wish to discuss Sarah and her work further, you may contact me.

- Kristina Rhodes, Firm Director at Allen Hall Public Relations, managed Sarah.

Sarah is extremely professional and a great asset to have on a team. Always friendly and positive, she is organized, reliable and self-motivated. Sarah is a natural communicator, has great social media experience and would be a fantastic addition to any public relations team.

-Lynn Hector, Assistant Firm Director at Allen Hall Public Relations, managed Sarah.

I have known Sarah for four years, and her abilities never cease to amaze me. The work she has done for client, Communicate with Class, has been above and beyond. Sarah possesses excellent management, writing and editing skills. She also has the ability to strategically analyze a client’s current situation in order to create and execute extensive public relations plans. Aside from her amazing capabilities as a public relations professional, Sarah is one of the kindest people I know. She is empathetic, caring and all-in-all a wonderful person to work with. Without hesitation, I would recommend Sarah for any position in your organization. Her tangible and intangible skills will be an excellent addition to any company.

I have struggled trying to keep up with my marketing and provide excellent service to my clients. Sarah, for me is a gift. She picked up my marketing work, knew how to put it in my voice, completely lightening my workload. I am so grateful to Sarah for her professionalism, her “get-to-it” attitude, and her ability to track where we are. She has some amazing organizational skills as well as exceptional people skills. Sarah is a keeper!

- Pamela Cournoyer was an Allen Hall Public Relations client of Sarah’s in 2010.

“I am writing to enthusiastically recommend Sarah Helfgott for a public relations position. Sarah took both the strategic communication and media relations class as well as the strategic planning and cases class with me. The first is a small, writing-intensive lab class in which I get to know the students quite well and how well they work under deadline pressure to meet strategic goals and objectives. I run the class much like a public relations firm in terms of skills, work, and aptitude needed. The second class requires greater critical, strategic, and conceptual thinking skills. Many students do well in one class or the other, but Sarah was one of the very few who was a standout in both classes. Sarah has taken advantage of every opportunity here in Eugene: excelled in classes, done a number of internships, been a member of PRSSA, and worked her way up the ranks in our AHPR, our student-run public relations firm. She is an adept communicator using both traditional and social media channels, and she knows how to use research to tackle a problem and get it in hand. She s deadline oriented and manages her time well, contributing to her professionalism. Sarah works well independently and is not afraid to ask for direction when needed, but she is equally adept at working in a group. I have to admit, I placed Sarah in a group that I knew might have some issues because of some of the other people involved. I knew Sarah would be able to handle the situation, which she did admirably. Her ready smile and sense of humor comes backed by a no-nonsense, get-the-job-done attitude. In other words, she s the type you re always glad to have around as part of your team. In short, I recommend Sarah highly and believe she will be an outstanding addition to any organization lucky enough to have her on the team. Please don t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.”

- Patricia A. Curtin, Professor, SOJC Endowed Chair in Public Relations at the University of Oregon
