Provided individual and family therapy to children ages 3 – 18 years old, from a variety of ethnic and socio-economic groups. Outpatient services consisted of psychotherapy, psychological assessment, treatment planning and involvement with a plethora of outside agencies such as schools, social services and juvenile justice. Services were provided at a rural school to help fulfill all needs in the county. Duties also included supervision of an EMHI-funded prevention program, inpatient assessments, crisis coverage at the clinic and membership on a community suicide response team.

Provided group therapy for chronically mentally ill patients as well as those in crisis. Responsibilities also included psychological testing, psychosocial evaluations and interdisciplinary treatment teams. Provided weekly psychotherapy and psycho-educational groups for the inpatient and partial hospitalization programs. In-services and clinical case presentations were also provided at the hospital.
1992-1993 Southwood Residential Treatment Center Chula Vista, CA
Pre-Doctoral Internship
Group and family therapy was provided for children living in the residential treatment center. Treatment ranged from longer-term models (9-12 mos.) to shorter-term models based upon length of stay. Groups were run with both adolescents and children and met several times weekly. Internship responsibilities also included psychological testing and evaluations, school achievement and placement evaluations. Duties also included weekly interdisciplinary team meetings, case management and staff in-services.

A weekly shift on a crisis hotline required coverage of a crisis hotline, walk-in crisis center, and referra1 and screenings for the agency’s battered woman’s shelter.
