AWARDS
Federal Aviation Administration-Superior SMO Sector received the
United States Department of Transportation's Environmental Achievement Award for Recycling - 2002 as a result of our efforts. From 1995 to
2001, FAA SUP SMO -Wisconsin & Upper Michigan recycled 104.64 tons
of various materials previously disposed in typical landfills. I coordinated
& HAZWOPER supervised all pickups. The program recycled outdated Air Traffic / Airway Facilities radio- communications equipment FAA-AF &
FAA-AT facilities consisting of any waste electronic equipment containing leaded solder, lead acid or lithium batteries, mercury, any waste lamps,
all radioactive wastes, all hazardous material waste containing any
regulatory agency identified HAZWASTE products - 90% disposed at no charge to FAA through licensed recyclers. Identified many waste streams previously sent to conventional landfills.
