PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Allied Waste Services, LLC, a Division of Republic Services
Roanoke, Virginia
Growth and Territory Representative
Nov 2000 - Sep 2012
Republic Services is one of the top national, but local trash service and recycling company and our business unit
covered three divisions in Virginia that included Roanoke, Lynchburg and Charlottesville. I would collaborate often
with my team members with any information for the sales process. Our monthly sales goals were set at an aggressive
$2675.00 per month on all contracted, sold, new business, this goal I met on a consistent basis.
Forged relationships with my customers, where they trusted my advice in what would work for them, they consulted
me on different changes they were thinking of in house, and to see if this would be successful. Prepare sales
presentations and proposals that would recommend any changes in service and show annual, estimated cost savings at
that time. A few examples of my customers would be Carilion Hospitals, Carilion Clinics, Elizabeth Arden, Mom &
Pop stores and many Construction Companies.
Cold call on construction jobs to secure new, temporary roll-off accounts. Maintained several excellent relationships
with the decision makers for Lionberger, Avis and AAR Roofing of NC. I have increased our temporary revenue over
100k in the last 6 months with over 30 new accounts in the last 3 months.
Negotiate prices and terms of sales and service agreements; this could have also included negotiating annual price
increases. This amount could have been anywhere from 3% to 10%.
Initiate sales campaigns and follow marketing plan guidelines in order to meet sales and production expectations.
When our marketing days were completed, normally resulted in a 10-15% increase in sales from the days contacts.
By cold calling and setting appointments, contact 15-20+ new customers per week to discuss their service needs and
move them though the sales process. Would explain how their needs could be better met by specific products and
services. This is also done by technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations.
Knowledge of Special Waste procedures and have handled many accounts with SW. A few examples are Friable and
Non-Friable Asbestos hauling and sludge from manufacturing.
Complete accurate and timely monthly reports, such as prior monthly sales and 30/60/90 day sales funnel for our
Divisional Meeting, expense reports, commissions and other necessary paperwork.
Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in
organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences. Attended monthly association meetings with
several different associations.
Maintain customer records in our system, request credits/debts, respond to customer calls directly or when they go
through our customer service center regarding questions/issues.
