Business Experience
Founded Inventive Communications and was part owner for 4 years from 1998 to 2002.
Product development on the INET Library started with a grant in 1994 and continues today; chief strategist for product development for 8 years; Inet Library is now used daily in 1700 districts across the nation. The online, website is www.inetlibrary.com.
Developed the following services: Inet Library; still being sold into schools today in 33 states with about 5 million users; Inventive Communications; the LLC distributing and producing INET Library related products; MyInet; a communications system for teachers based on developing their websites and posting homework; Curriculum Builder, aligns selected websites to standards and arranges them in a sequential order like a textbook with chapter quizzes; Ready, Set, Test; a nationally standardized test online for practice and improvement purposes; Telemarketing to schools in 1998the online concept was cutting edge at the time--and developed the testing department, the scripts, and the training.
Additionally, I served as the CEO, the COO, the CDO for Inventive Communications. I have designed booths for conventions; been the spokesperson for the company; and written company policy.
In July of 2003, I was hired as Vice-President of Corporate Development for
Bennett and Bennett Management, Incorporated. We grew 28% in one year
and added over $1,200,000 worth of new business and renewals in the first year.
The company has now re-incorporated under the name of Mid States
Incorporated with a 250% growth rate in the last 3 years.
Summary
My experiences in education, over 25 years, have resulted in my being well known regionally. I am known by 75% of all the superintendents in Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska and had conversations with each and every superintendent in Nebraska and South Dakota. My being a superintendent for 18 years in these states not only gained me access to these key educational leaders in each district but provided me first-hand knowledge into the budgeting processes and the state-aid challenges these people deal with constantly. My having a doctorate in educational administration, combined with the recognition regionally, is pivotal in opening many doors to superintendents offices that may remain closed to competing firms. This knowledge and background also gives the companies that I work with a unique perspective on product development and sales.
