SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

As a retired Army officer, I have extensive management and leadership experience. I am flexible and work well with people. I have six years in training development experience and supervised a staff of 200 military and civilian trainers. These six years progressed from project to program management. Several years of my career were with the Systems Branch of the Logistics Division of the National Guard Bureau. I have varied experience as a staff member and leader in training and operations. Since leaving military service I have worked as an analyst and trainer. I have recently completed a certification preparatory course in Project Management from Villanova University. My strengths include strong verbal and written communication skills, honesty, integrity, and am a quick learner. I desire a position where I can use my life experiences in a leadership/mentorship role while providing outstanding service for both employer and customer.

PROFESSIONAL ASSIGNMENTS/ACHIEVEMENTS

9/2011 to Present. Military Instructor for Peace Support Operations in Africa

I have most recently served as the Senior Staff Trainer in Rwanda to train battalion staffs in the Military Decision Making Process to prepare them for Peace Support Operations in Darfur, Sudan. I ensure that Rwandan Military Trainers teach required information and that the trainees are able to adequately apply the principles taught.

9/2009 to 9/2011. Military Analyst

I served as the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) Counter Improvised Explosive Device (CIED) Analyst to the 191st IN BDE. I researched on both open and classified sources to stay abreast of the most recent enemy Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) and our own Best Practices. I shared my analysis with the Master Trainer and device fabricator so that Mobilized Soldiers received the best possible CIED training to prepare them to deploy to their assigned Area of Operations. In this position I worked for MPRI from 9/2009 to 9/2010 and then the contract holder changed to Serrano IT Services from 9/2010 to 9/2011 when the position at the 191st IN BDE was eliminated due to mission changes.

4/2009 to 9/2009. WA Army National Guard

I served as the Education Services Officer (ESO) in an Emergency Hire Temporary Technician status to backfill the incumbent until returning from deployment to Iraq. As the ESO I lead a small staff in the administering of the WA Army National Guard education funds through communication with both Soldiers and Institutions. The staff ranked among the highest of all states in the efficient administration of the funds.

9/2008 to 4/2009. Unemployed

I underwent major surgery and recuperation during this time.

8/2006 to 9/2008. MPRI.

Consultant for the Africa Contingency Operations Training Assistance (ACOTA) Program training battalion staffs for peace support operations. The training focuses on the Military Decision Making Process. I mentored all staff members (personnel, intelligence, operations, logistics and civil affairs at various times during their Command Post Exercise (CPX) and Computer Aided Exercise (CAX).

4/2005 to 3/2006. MPRI.

Military Analyst II supporting the Current Force Integration Directorate (CAC G-8) at Ft. Leavenworth, KS with duty at I Corps, Ft. Lewis, WA. Provided Modular Force support to the Corps G-37 and staff and nearby RC units by researching and answering Requests for Information, attending coordination meetings, conducting formal and informal interviews, and analyzing potential issues pertaining to training requirements for Modular Force units.

1998 2005. Clean Technology International Corporation.

I was Senior Vice President for Administration, worked with Quick Books, prepared financial statements and business plans for this start-up company. I researched Hazardous Waste cleanup, to include testing of different materials as an operator of the companys prototype machine. Working with this prototype machine I assisted with production for hazardous waste treatment and product development of carbon nanomaterial. For a 3 year period I was a technology license holder for the State of WA, writing business plans and raising money (looking for stockholders and investors). I have had Hazardous Waste Management training.

1989 - 1990. Attended the Naval Command and Staff College in Newport, RI

I make special note of this military education because I was the single National Guard Officer selected to attend this iteration of the course. It was during this course of study that the Berlin Wall came down and the balance of world power greatly changed. Largely due to this event, I participated in an independent study program analyzing and writing a paper on the Future Balance of the Army Active and Reserve Force Structure.

1985 1998. Officer in the Army Active Guard/Reserve.

Progressed through many positions and promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. In my final assignment I led a staff of 8 overseeing daily operation of over 200 military and civilian personnel. This was at a training center that developed and maintained Programs of Instruction and continually analyzed direct feedback to keep the courses relevant to the needs of the Army National Guard. I stressed course standardization and the use of course reviews using field subject matter experts to accomplish our goals. I was largely responsible for moving the staff forward in the greater use of distance learning. The crowning achievement was leading the staff in its submission for the Malcolm Baldrige Award and received state recognition from the Governor of Arkansas. Other positions gave me experience in instruction, project management, formal research and writing, and testing and analysis. I had direct influence with the cross functional relevance of the Standard Army Retail Supply System as it relates to the Army National Guard when activated and working directly with the active Army.

1970 1976. Served in the US Marine Corps

I was commissioned in May 1970 from the Navy ROTC program. I attended Navy Flight School and graduated in Jun 1972. After further training I served in VMA-223 as an A4 pilot and Assistant Operations Officer. In Sep 1974 I transferred to VT-7 and served as an advanced jet instructor pilot until leaving the Marine Corps in Dec 1976.
