J. M. Huber Dates: 8/2005 10/2007

Macon, GA Salary: $39,000/yr

Hours/wk: 40

Export Customer Specialist

I served as a logistics officer and freight forwarder for the procurement, manufacture and delivery of products manufactured by J.M. Huber. This required me to interface on a daily basis with the customer/user, manufacturers/vendors, carriers, freight forwarders, and customs/security personnel. I maintained a master schedule detailing all milestones and data required to meet the users requirements given the capabilities of the vendor and delivery agents. Detailed activities included:

I maintained constant contact with the user ensuring he had the latest data on item availability, production and delivery lead times (schedule), and price. This varied from item to item so I had to tailor and this data specific to each customer. I utilized standard Microsoft Office and Oracle database applications to organize and maintain this process on a step-by-step basis. This data was accessible company-wide so various functionaries could monitor data applicable to their responsibilities.

I translated user requirements into resource requirements and coordinated with the vendors and suppliers to ensure the items were available at the correct time and in the amount the customer requested.

I translated customer orders into purchase requests that reserved the items for the applicable item, amount, and need date.

I coordinated with the freight forwarder on delivery methods and times depending on the item ready date and customer need date. I interfaced with multiple shipping companies for air, land and sea deliveries. Multiple contract carriers were used on a customer/item basis. I received additional data from the freight forwarder and integrated this information into the project database.

I created invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin for each delivery and provided these to the freight forwarder and customer. This process indicated that the item(s) had been reserved and would be sold for the negotiated price.

I coordinated with inspection agencies and documented the inspection results. I integrated this data along with the updated shipping date, shipping method/carrier, and targeted delivery date into the project database. I tracked the item status to delivery and customer acceptance.

In special cases I had to perform all of the above tasks on an emergency, quick-reaction basis. Schedules and processes were streamlined to meet the users requirements while ensuring the quality of the items was maintained and all laws, regulations, etc. were adhered to. If hazardous materials were involved, I ensured that special handling, shipping, and inspection regulations were followed.
